What’s better than free ebooks? Free ebooks you actually want to read.
Freebooksy is a website to help you find free ebooks. What makes this site so useful is the ability to find the ebooks that you’ll want to read. The site also shows you books that are discounted or on sale if you’re looking for bargain books.
Ebooks are available on Freebooksy for:
- Kindle ereader and Kindle app
- Nook
- Apple iBooks
- Kobo
[tip]Fill up your digital library with free ebooks before a trip or when you’re on vacation. Use Freebooksy to try reading ebooks to see if you like them. [/tip]
Books listed on Freebooksy are either free or discounted/on sale. Prices for books that are discounted or on sale range from $0.99 to $5.99.
Using Freebooksy
New Free Ebooks
Click on Free Ebooks at the top of the page to see the list of books that are newly free each day. The books are listed by genre. You can see the book cover and read a description. Below the description are buttons showing the availability of the book on different formats.
Free ebooks are posted at least once a day. There is no guarantee how long a book will remain free so when you see a free book that interests you, grab it right away.
Look back a few days to see if any free books interest you. Books can sometimes remain free for a while.

Searching for Free Ebooks
You can search for free ebooks according to genre. Freebooksy lists 15 different genres you can search, from cozy mystery (I didn’t even know that was a genre) to non-fiction.
Click the Browse by Genre section in the top tool bar to see all 15 categories.
The site includes free children’s books as well as young adult books, so you can load up on free books for your kids.
Series
Often authors will offer the first book in a series free to get you hooked. Freebooksy lets you search for series with the first book free, by genre, or by scrolling through to discover new series.
You’ll see the first free book in the series, as well as the other books, along with their Kindle prices, so you know what you’re getting yourself into before you start reading the series.
Want to get regular updates of free or discounted ebooks? Sign up for Freebooksy’s email service. You can choose which format of ebooks you want (Kindle, Apple iBooks, Kobo or Nook), as well as the genres you prefer.
You can set your email preferences to daily or weekly. You also have the choice of whether you want to be notified of discounted books.
Social Media
Check out Freebooksy’s social media accounts, if you’d like updates but don’t want to get emails. They post daily tweets of free books from their Twitter account @freebooksy.

Hi Carolyn,
Happy Monday ๐
Informative post indeed! I’ve heard of a few free ebook sites, but had not heard of Freebooksy (catchy name!) – and I think it would be the perfect answer for those people who’d like to check out books at their leisure, yet not want to buy the too costly ones. Yes, maintaining a library of great reads would be wonderful indeed. I like the fact that new authors can use this platform to even promote their books. I’d surely check this out.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead ๐

Hi Harleena, Yes, Freebooksy has a lot to offer. Even their blog is interesting. You’re right, why not load up on books while they’re free? Usually the free price only lasts a short time so it’s good to grab them when you can.

Hi Ravi, Great idea. If someone wanted to try reading ebooks, to see if they liked reading that way, they could try some free ones using Freebooksy. You could even try Kindle vs. Nook vs. Apple iBooks vs. Kobo to see which format works best for you.
I hope you find some new favorite books, Ravi.

Hi Carolyn,
What a fantastic resource! I’m a huge reader and I’m always looking for new and great ideas for both my business and my personal life.
It’s funny, because a few authors I’ve come across have reached out to me excited when I quoted them in my blog or on a landing page as a source.
I’ve already jumped over to check them out!
Have a great week Carolyn!
