The Wonder of Tech is all about tech to make your life easier and more fun. This blog was created to help people discover tech to help them in their daily lives. Today I’m speaking to a local organization about my tech tips to make your everyday life easier which means I had to pick the most useful tech that I recommend.
Here are my top 10 choices for essential tech:
Evernote
Evernote is my favorite note service. You can sync your notes across your computer, tablet and phone to have them available wherever you are. No need to worry about losing your notes or not having them with you when you need them.
You can add photos, screen shots, links and audio to your notes to make sure you have the information you need for your notes. Whether my daughter and I are touring colleges, I’m prepping for an interview of a tech executive or I’m researching an upcoming article, I use Evernote. I even used Evernote to prepare for today’s presentation.
My full review of Evernote can be found here: Evernote: A Powerful Organizational Tool!
Dropbox
Dropbox not only gives you access to your files from any computer, tablet or phone, the service also serves as a backup for your documents, photos, videos and other files. You can use the service to share files with others for collaboration.
Dropbox gives you 2 GB of free space but you can earn more easily. Be sure to check out 8 Easy Ways to Get Free Dropbox Space.
#Hashtags
Whether you’re searching for information or looking to spread the word, hashtags are a useful tool. Use hashtags on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and Pinterest to hone your search to relevant results.
You can also use hashtags to help your voice be heard. Use hashtags in your tweets and other social media posts so others can find your message. Check out services such as RiteTag and hashtagify.me to learn how to use hashtags more effectively.
See, Tag! You’re It! All About #Hashtags for more information about hashtags.
Pinterest started as a social media site mostly used by brides planning weddings. Since then, Pinterest has blossomed into a powerful site to help you discover, get organized, become inspired and learn.
You can use Pinterest to get party ideas, plan renovations, research recipes, and organize projects. Create private pin boards for projects you want to keep to yourself. You can also join group boards to share broadly or see a variety of pins from a wide audience.
For more information on Pinterest see, Pinsanity! Why You’ll Go Crazy over Pinterest
Google Maps
For directions, street view and traffic information, Google Maps can be your best resource. Google Maps was updated earlier this year to give you even more information, including predicted traffic congestion based on the time and day of the week.
See, Meet the New Google Maps! for more information.
Kindle Books
I write a lot about Kindle books because they are such a convenient way of reading books. I realize ebooks aren’t for everyone, many people prefer the feel and smell of a print book in their hands. But for many people, the convenience of being able to download a book within 60 seconds and having their library available wherever they go can outweigh the sensory pleasure of a print book.
You don’t need a Kindle to read a Kindle book. You can read a Kindle book on any computer, phone or tablet as well as a Kindle ereader.
Amazon also offers many Kindle books for free or deeply discounted. If you are an Amazon Prime member you can borrow a Kindle book for free every month.

Smartwatches
When people ask me for a recommendation for a tech gift for someone, I suggest the Pebble watch. I’ve been wearing mine since March and hate to be without it.
My Pebble watch can help notify me of incoming calls and texts, so I can see who is calling and read the text message without digging my phone out of my purse. My Pebble also alerts me to important calls I might miss when I can’t hear my phone ring.
Also recently introduced is the Galaxy Gear watch which syncs to Samsung Galaxy phones. You can add apps to the Gear, including Evernote. That’s right, you can see your Evernote notes on your Gear smartwatch. Very cool. Stay tuned to The Wonder of Tech for an upcoming review of the Galaxy Gear.
See, Pebble Watch – A Smartwatch with Potential and Samsung Galaxy Gear – The Latest Entry in the Smartwatch Market
Appointment/Reservation Apps
Apps can give you the convenience of making reservations and appointments any time of day or night. OpenTable for restaurant reservations and ZocDoc for physician appointments allow you to see availability and find a time slot that works for you without ever having to make a phone call.
OpenTable allows you to search for restaurants by location, type of cuisine, price and ratings. You can also search by who has a table available when you need it. Read reviews and earn points for free meals.
ZocDoc allows you to search for a new physician or make appointments with your existing physician. You can see when the next available appointment is for a doctor or pick a date and time in the future. Search for doctors according to location, insurance accepted and area of specialty. You can read reviews from patients who have rated both the physician and the office.
See, You Don’t Have to Be Patient with ZocDoc! and Open Doors with OpenTable!
Podcasts
Whether you want to learn something new or just be entertained, podcasts are a convenient, free resource. Like blogs, podcasts exist on just about every topic. You can learn a new language, be updated on the news or listen to podcasters dish about the latest episode of your favorite TV show.
I mostly listen to tech podcasts to learn about tech news, discover new tech and learn others’ opinions on developments in the tech world. Some of my favorite tech podcasts are:
- Pop Tech Jam – a weekly podcast about tech and pop culture
- Today in iOS – a podcast about iDevices
- Android Central – a weekly podcast all about Android
- The Cell Phone Junkie – a weekly podcast about mobile devices
- iMore – a weekly podcast about Apple news
- The Kindle Chronicles – a weekly podcast about Kindle devices and ebooks
- MacOS Ken – a daily podcast about Apple news
I’m also a big fan of Rob Cesternino’s Rob Has a Podcast about popular TV shows.
See, Passionate About Podcasts! for more information about podcasts.

Harleena Singh says
Hi Carolyn,
Loved the list 🙂
You won’t believe it, but it’s been months since I read and saved your earlier DropBox posts and I still haven’t got down to exploring it! Same is the case with Evernote, when I know so many people use and recommend it too – so this IS a warning for me to do it right away, or perhaps this weekend (that’s what I say each time, and then get stuck!)
Honestly speaking, I think it’s just Pinterest, and Kindle books that my younger one is enjoying on her new tablet we purchased for her birthday, and hashtags are what I use. Google maps are wonderful too, but we tend to use them only when we are planning a trip out of station. Oh…how do you manage to listen to the podcasts too! Been ages I listened to one. Nice slideshare – your first one on this blog? Isnt’t it? Great going, Carolyn 🙂
Thanks for sharing these wonderful tech tools with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Harleena, Yes, this is my first Slide Share that I created on The Wonder of Tech, though I used one from Verizon last month. I find it helpful to be able to access slides from a presentation I’ve attended so I wanted to share mine here today. Slide Share was very easy to use, perhaps a topic for a future article!
I can believe that you haven’t gotten around to Evernote or Dropbox yet, you’re so busy, Harleena! Perhaps you should start with just one first and then move on to the other. Once you experience the convenience of having your files and notes everywhere you may naturally move on to the other service.
We live in an area prone to flooding with heavy rains which closes roads often. The audience today was very interested in learning about Google Maps Traffic that shows in real time which roads are closed.
I spend a lot of time in the car and I’m usually listening to podcasts and/or audiobooks. I listen to podcasts the first thing every day to get the latest tech news!
Sometimes I wonder how people manage without tech tools, Harleena.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us. 🙂
Reginald says
Hey Carolyn,
Nice write! For me, Evernote and DropBox is a must for my day to day job. Love it so much! Would be great if DropBox can increase the size though. I am already hitting the 62g max!
Have a great week ahead!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Reginald, I’m so glad you’re enjoying Evernote and Dropbox. They really are great services and you can do so much with them for free.
That’s great that you have 62 GB of space, but that isn’t the max. Right now I have over 82 GB of free space, though 50 GB expires late next year. Stay tuned to The Wonder of Tech as I will definitely report on additional ways to earn free Dropbox as they become available.
Susan Neal says
A great list of resources, Carolyn – I’m pleased you’ve put Evernote at number one, because it’s probably one of the online tools I could least do without. I find the web clipper’s a bit temperamental, since their latest update, which can be annoying, but it’s still a great tool.
I used to use Google maps all the time when I was at work – don’t travel so much now, but would always check my route on Google maps if ever I’m going anywhere new.
The Pebble watches look great fun!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sue, It’s great to hear from a fellow Evernote fan! We had plenty of Evernote fans in the audience today too but many of them didn’t know about how you could embed photos, voice notes, etc. into Evernote.
I find the web clipper to be very valuable, especially if a website goes offline. Although it could be a bit more cumbersome, you could take a screen shot of a web site and add that as a photo to your note if the web clipper service isn’t working well for you.
Google Maps Traffic is very helpful for avoiding traffic jams and seeing closed roads. I really like the predicted traffic feature that can help me know what to anticipate in the future.
The Pebble watch is great and I’m testing the Gear now for review. That watch is amazing too!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, Sue!
Saul Fleischman says
Thanks for including RiteTag, Carolyn. SlideShare – this, too, I’m really getting into it. Pushing myself to be more visual, which is quite a stretch.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Saul, Yes, using Slide Share was very easy and very worthwhile. My first attempt at Slide Share was very productive and brought loads of traffic. I highly recommend it and will be using this tool in the future.
Speaking of tools, I am a huge fan of RiteTag and use it every day. You have done a great job of building RiteTag and improving it along the way. The Chrome extension is invaluable.
Thanks for visiting and for your RiteTag service, Saul!
Himanshu says
Hello Carolyn,
Very nice post to make my life easier..
I am using many of them for saving my files and writing notes. Pinterest is one of my favorite tools for arranging my stuff in a good manner. Podcasts is new for me. I have not yet use these types of things for my blog.
I already have some podcasts in my hard drive but due to short of time, I was not able to listen them.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Himanshu, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, I’m a big fan of podcasts, I listen to them every day but I have never created one myself for this blog or any other. I think it would be fun, though very hard work.
I’m glad you’re a fan of Pinterest too, Himanshu. It certainly is a fun way to organize your life!
Lisa says
HI Carolyn, I’m not sure I would use a smartwatch when I depend so much on my smartphone 🙂 I’ve been using my Kindle more and more on the smartphone and Love it! I have been exploring those hashtag tools too. Of course I pin daily too. Thanks for sharing these with us. Enjoy the rest of your week Carolyn.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Lisa, Because you depend on your smartphone, a smartwatch could be a great choice for you. A smartwatch doesn’t replace a smartphone, but makes it even more useful. With a smartwatch I never miss a call because my phone is buried in my purse and I can’t hear the ringer. I can be alerted to calls, see who is calling and read text messages on my smartwatch.
I’m glad you’re using your Kindle books on your phone, Lisa. People sometimes, well probably often, think I’m nuts for having Kindle books on my phone but they really are very handy there!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us, Lisa!
Ann says
Lisa,
You write that you depend so much on your smartphone. I do too, and I’m wondering how you access yours. When I couldn’t find a clip-on case for my new iPhone 5s, I found it very cumbersome to have my phone in my purse or bag. I missed a lot of calls. Do you have a better solution for carrying your smartphone?
Thanks,
Ann Nunziata
Lisa says
I buy my bags around my phone so they have a place and it’s in my hands a lot too. I have a gadget for car with hands free but don’t use it often there. I dread having to buy new pocketbooks for that reason. I heard there are some clothing lines with places for phones too. That would be neat – the right size pockets. My Droid is on the large size.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ann, Like Lisa, I buy my handbags with my tech in mind. I like an outside pocket where I can keep my cell phone for easy access. I also need a handbag that’s large enough to accommodate my iPad.
I will also say that with a smartwatch I never miss a call. I can’t answer a call on my Pebble watch but I can at least see who is calling me and be alerted in time to get my phone out of my purse.
With the Galaxy Gear you can answer and make calls using the watch so you really don’t have an excuse for missing any calls!
Pamela Morse says
This is a mighty fine list. Evernote at the top caught my attention because I just purchased the moleskin notebook that came with a free subscription to Evernote prime. I have been trying to use it, but just have no feel for it. You reminded me to try again today to play with it. Thanks for this.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Pamela, Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed this list. Evernote is trying more and more to incorporate written notes into their service. They recently introduced a special scanner and stylus to turn written notes into Evernotes.
Pamela Morse says
I know I bought the jot, but it is not working that well for me yet..I can see the possibilities, but have not really used it. If I don’t, I will let the prime subscription expire.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Yes, Pamela, sometimes it can take a few tries before we embrace a new tech. On the other hand, sometimes certain tech just isn’t a good fit for you. Give it another go before you give up on it to see if it’s worth keeping Evernote prime.
sherman smith says
Hey Carolyn,
Out of all the tools here, dropbox is the one I really use consistently. This is where I save my blog posts I’m going to write, as well as share some trainings or any other files. Best part about it is that I can access it anywhere in the world as long I have access to a computer and internet! No more losing my flash drives! Thanks for sharing!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sherman, A very warm welcome to The Wonder of Tech! You’re right, Dropbox has many advantages, including having access to your files anywhere there is Internet access. You’re right about the flash drives too. How many of those have we misplaced?
You sound as if you’re making great use of Dropbox, Sherman. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with Dropbox here with us!
Adrienne says
I’m so glad you mentioned your blog in this list Carolyn because it should be everyone’s go to place for anything tech. If you want some cool tech tools then stop by here and you’ll be sharing those with us as well.
I may not use all of these services but I’m familiar with them all. Aren’t you proud of me? Of course you introduced me to a good bit of them so I always have you to be thankful for that.
I think I will check out the hashtag site more though. I’m still not using them the way I should. I don’t know why they are so hard for me to remember. I guess it’s because so many people misuse them that I end up finding them more annoying then anything. Doesn’t mean they aren’t important.
Thanks again Carolyn and hope you had a great week.
~Adrienne
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, Yes, I have covered each of these here at The Wonder of Tech. I really had to mention my blog because technology that helps you in your daily life is exactly what this blog is all about! I’d like to think that this blog is what I would want to read if I wanted to learn about great tech.
Thanks for your very kind words. You’ve come so far in adopting tech now, Adrienne. You’ve always been a tech queen online and now you’re becoming one in real life!
Definitely use hashtags, Adrienne to help people discover your amazing work. Saul has done a superb job in developing RiteTag to help you learn which hashtags are the most effective and to schedule your posts, somewhat like Buffer. RiteTag even has a Chrome extension to make it easy to schedule your posts.
maxwell ivey says
Hi Carolyn; Excellent list and i’m sure your presentation went great. I love drop box. Thanks to ashley faulkes i now use word press to drop box back up for my word press site. It not only backs up the site to drop box but also to my laptop. and if i add a desk top at the home or office i can add it to the list and have a second back up. I got the 250 mb extra storage for completing the drop box scavenger hunt. smile and i use pinterest to promote equipment listings. just add a link back to my site with the photo. And i wish i could get behind kindle but their software is not accessible by the blind. The nook at least has accessibility for iOS and other smart phones now with a promise to fix the desktop version soon. But I understand how useful it is to people who can see. thanks for the great post and sharing about the presentation. Did it make it easier knowing you were getting a blog post out of it? take care, max
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Maxwell, Thank you, my presentation did go quite well. The audience was tech savvy and had great questions.
I’m glad you’re using Dropbox and actively getting more free storage. That’s the way to do it!
Yes, Amazon has taken quite a few steps backwards with accessibility. They no longer offer text to speech for books and have stopped selling the Kindle Keyboard with its physical buttons.
You’re absolutely right, pairing my speech with a blog post did make it easier. As I was organizing my outline for my speech, I realized that if I were writing a blog post instead, I could do it more easily because I’ve practiced that skill so much. I wrote this post first then used it as the basis for my speech. That worked well for the audience too who can now refer back to this article any time.
Thanks so much for your visit and wonderful comment, Maxwell! :-bd
maxwell ivey says
Hi; I’m always happy when i can ask a good question or leave a thought not considered before. I thought you might have started with a blog post and then expanded it or reformatted it as a power point or other type of slide show presentation. do you use slide share? you might want to share the presentation on there to get more visibility for this excellent post. and it isn’t just amazon. recently the makers of several e readers appealed to the government for a waver that would exempt them from making their products accessible. nook at least does have a functioning iOS version and is supposed to be working on a version for desktops and laptops. just hoping they don’t go out of business before it happens. I’m registered with kindle but have yet to put my blog out there. i don’t want people having to pay for my content. and drop box made it fun to get the extra storage. my only real complaint with them is that when i run a back up i have to turn off the speech on my computer because every time it updates a file it sends text to my screen reader. I get around that by starting back ups when i go to bed. smile thanks again for the post. Keep up the great work, max
Babanature says
Hello Carolyn,
A friend of mine is using Dropbx and he just won’t let me rest about it. He think dropbox is awesome. I’ll have to go get my own dropbox account as well and see how awesome they are.
The way i get my hashtag is, i use the popular word in my post and make it my hashtag and that have been helping me, but what you just dropped can indeed make things more easy. I clicked the hashtagify link 🙂
Thanks for the lovely post and do have a wonderful week :)…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Babanature, What a great friend you have, insisting that you try Dropbox. You will certainly be thanking him later when you wonder how you existed before Dropbox. Be sure to use his referral link to give him extra free space when you sign up for your account.
That’s great you’re using hashtags, but by doing some research you may be able to use them more effectively. For example, RiteTag can show you which keywords get the most retweets, clicks on links and favorites.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, Babanature and for your diligence in leaving it. :-bd
Mayura says
Hi Carolyn,
Nice list of tools and I’m not surprised to see Evernote on top 😉 I recall reading your excellent review of Evernote and I was pretty convinced. Yet I don’t rely too much on it even I have it installed in my smartphone though.
When I think of MUST haves, seems like I’m fond of Googalized products such as Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Search etc. Aren’t we? 😉 Other tools are mostly related to blogging, like Buffer, HootSuite. BTW I thought ShopAdvisor might have made the list when I read the title 🙂
If you have asked us to vote on one, it would be Smart Watch though 😉 How smart and convenient!
Still I have to try out podcasts. So I went ahead and installed BeyondPod app. Thanks for sharing your favorite podcasts Carolyn. Didn’t know mentioned podcasts except for Android Central one.
Like Adrienne mentioned, I’m glad you have WOT mentioned in the list too 🙂 It’s a must have and always learnt new stuff by coming over here. Unless your blog, some tech / gadgets are never existed for me 😀 Love your thorough reviews on apps / gadgets as always. Keep it up and more coming dear 🙂
BTW I just like to know if you have been fond of gesture apps on your smartphone Carolyn. I’ve been trying few and like to know any of your favorites. May be a new post? ((Wink Wink))
You have a lovely weekend ahead dear 🙂
Cheers…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mayura, I’m glad you have Evernote on your phone and that you enjoyed my review. You can use it to record article ideas whenever you think of them, either on your phone or your computer. You can use the Web Clipper to help with your research and have your notes handy wherever you are.
I did have Chrome and Gmail on my initial list of tech tools, but I had to cut some as I wanted to limit the tools to 10. Your suggestions are fantastic, Mayura, thanks for including those. I use them every day too!
You’re right, smart watches really help keep me connected and are really tech of the future. Those are the only two tech tools that weren’t available at the beginning of 2013.
I know how busy you are Mayura and how much you love to learn so podcasts would be a very handy tool for you to use! I hope you find some great podcasts. You may even be inspired to create some yourself!
Thank you for your kind words about The Wonder of Tech, Mayura. This blog is all about helping you find fun and useful tech tools to use in your everyday life. I’m pleased you have discovered new tech here. I have learned so much from your amazing blog, Mayura, it does my heart good to know that you learned something here! 🙂
I sent you a Facebook message in response to your gesture app question, Mayura.
alan says
Nice share Carolyn, you have shared almost all of my favorite tech tools except TripAdvisor travelling tool. Only thing I was not aware about is EverNote note service as I don’t know whether it is available for my phone or not. Rest of the things are perfect at their places and we can’t really imagine our life now without them, they have strictly made us dependable upon them. My favorite one is Google map as I can’t really travel without it, not just me but I guess all tech buff would have felt awkward had this been not included in your list. Thank you for sharing this beautiful list. Keep sharing
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Alan, Yes, I really could have made a much longer list and TripAdvisor would have been on it. I’m a big fan of TripIt too.
At my presentation a lot of people already used Google Maps but weren’t aware of Google Maps Traffic. Getting real time and predictive traffic information can make a big difference in your daily life.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts here, Alan. I will definitely keep sharing! :-bd
Donna Merrill says
Hi Carolyn,
I can’t live without Evernote! I’ve been using it for such a long time that I actually depend upon it. It makes things so easy!
Dropbox is something that I’m getting my toes wet on at the moment. Good thing my daughter came up to visit because she pushes me to use this.
When it comes to Googlemaps that’s one that I started to get addicted to. Who the heck would ever use anything else once you got used to this one!
I do need to brush up on my hashtags. I started to use it then dropped off. Good reminder and I thank you!
-Donna
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Donna, I agree with you, I don’t know how anyone gets by without Evernote! But I feel that way about Dropbox too. A friend of mine had her computer crash and lost nothing because she always saves her files to Dropbox.
I like Google Maps too and the live traffic has helped save me a bunch of times avoiding traffic jams and closed roads.
I highly recommend RiteTag, Donna. It makes sharing easy plus provides feedback on which tags are the best performers for you. I use it every day!
Ann says
Hi Carolyn,
Thanks for this great article. I was happy to see that I use most of the tech you hi-lite, and that is because I’ve read your recommendations for at least a year now.
I just wanted to add that the Evernote people are really sharp. They just sent me an email saying that they saw my email address on the list of hacked Adobe accounts and they reminded me to change my password, especially if I use the same one with Evernote (I don’t)
Also, I use Open Table for dinner reservations since it can be difficult to guarantee a spot during harvest in the Napa Valley, and I was pleasantly surprised to receive a $20 check to be used at any Open Table restaurant. We used it with absolutely no issues at a trendy new restaurant.
And, I’m having trouble with the hashtagify.me website on my iPad. It doesn’t seem to be iOS compatible because it cuts off the website on the righthand side. I wondered if you see the same problem, or if this is an iOS 6 problem. I’ve been afraid to upgrade my iPad2 to iOS 7 but maybe I should?
Thanks again,
Ann
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ann, First, thank you very much for being such a loyal reader of The Wonder of Tech!
That’s great that Evernote is taking such good care of you. Yes, Evernote did have an issue earlier this year where some passwords were revealed. No incidents of accounts being hacked were reported but it’s still wise to update your password.
Very cool about OpenTable! I’m so glad you were able to use your gift certificate at a new restaurant!
Yes, I’m having the same issue with hashtagify.me cutting off on my iPad running iOS 7.
My recommendation is for you to stay with iOS 6 on your iPad 2. I have heard reports that iOS 7 doesn’t always play nicely with the iPad 2.
Thank you for your wonderful comments, Ann!
Akaahan Terungwa says
Hello Carolyn,
It’s impressive you use all those services! I must really be in the stone age not to notice at least half of them!!
1’m an ardent fan of the kindle books though. I was very impressed when I could read them on my tablet.
On the recommendation, nothing beats a smart watch…I’ll sure recommend that anyday!
Thanks for sharing…do have a great day!
– Terungwa
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hello Terungwa, Lol, you’re not in the Stone Age, but tech is moving quickly. Five years ago this article would have been very different! And one year ago smartwatches didn’t exist. The Wonder of Tech is all about helping people keep up with the tech developments that will matter to them.
Yes, you can read Kindle books on a tablet which makes them very handy. I’m glad you’re enjoying them, Terungwa!
Pramod says
Hello Carolyn !
I simply love the title of this article . Busy people know that there are 10000’s of applications on the internet but only a handful of them are being used in a bulk and they prefer using those handful applications rather than trying out some low quality/less popular apps because they don’t want to waste their time. This is the ultimate list for them . I simply love dropbox and evernote as these both tools/apps are bundled with very innovative features . Thanks for sharing these apps.
-Pramod
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Pramod, Thank you. Yes, The Wonder of Tech is all about useful tech for your everyday life. I can’t imagine a topic I would feel more comfortable speaking about so why not have an accompanying article?
I don’t like it when my time is wasted so that’s why I don’t write negative reviews here. Why read about bad tech when there’s so much great tech out there?
I’m glad that you already are using Evernote and Dropbox, Pramod. I hope you discover many other wonderful tech tools to help you in your daily life!
Cararta says
Hi Carolyn,
I follow you on Twitter and decided to visit today!
Glad I did. Think I’ll come back later and go over your
post on Evernote! Get it organzied so it really is useful for me!
I’m somewhat techie deprived because where I live can only get text and
voice access on my cell phone (very rural) and have to go outside or one place
in the kitchen to even use those!
Might be better off to sell up and move to town! That watch sounds very interesting too.
Would make life easier!
Thanks for sharing…a whole page of great ideas in plain no techie language so
easy to absorb. 🙂
C.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Cararta, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Thanks for the visit and the follow. 🙂 Yes, do come back and check out my Evernote review. You can always find it in my sidebar as one of the most popular posts here at The Wonder of Tech.
Do you have Wi-Fi at your home? You may be able to use Wi-Fi to make phone calls from your cell phone and access the Internet.
Yes, I write in plain English, no tech terms used here at The Wonder of Tech. Thanks for noticing!
Great to have you here contributing to the conversation, Cararta.
Zainil says
Hi Carolyn, amazing list! 🙂
Google Maps – it tops my list.. I feel soo lucky to have such a great app in the smartphone, specially for a person like me who loves to travel.. I have been travelling all across the India, and would such say Google Maps is accurate even in most of the remote places.. 😎 Hats off to the technology of Larry Page & Sergey Brin! 🙂
Soon a bit expensive gadget will be rolling in the market – Google Glass.. As soon as the Glass would arrive, it would be my next investment for sure! 😀 Later on it should be the Driverless car.. I am a true fan of Google Technologies! 😛
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Zainil, Yes, you certainly are a Google fan and with good reason. I hope the price of Google Glass comes down so more people can get them.
The driverless car could be a huge change to society. Imagine how safe and convenient it would be to have driverless cars. I look forward to that day!
Zainil says
Driverless car will surely be super convenient.. I can just imagine myself sitting on the drives seat and reading a novel 😀 and talking on phone with friends :)]
The feature of Auto parking has already reached India, Volkswagen Passat has auto-driving feature in it.. It looks soo kewl to see a car getting parked without a driver on the seat! 🙂
Hope to see Driverless car soon in India! 🙂
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Wow, Zainil, I’ve seen video of the driverless Passat parking itself but I haven’t seen it in person. That must be so cool!
I can’t wait until driverless cars become commonplace. That will benefit many people!
Dana says
Hi Carolyn,
Great post. Some of these I knew about except the reference to hashtages, (ritetag and hashtagify). I’m going to check these resources as well. Thanks for providing such a plethora of useful information! Also I like what you shared about smart watches, Dick Tracy would be proud! LOL

You’re right, Dick Tracy would love these watches!
