With all of the tempting tech goodies introduced this year, there’s probably a tech gift or two you desire. Whether it’s a tablet, new phone, ereader or other tech gift, you may want to try new tech or grab the latest and the greatest version of tech you already own. What’s on your wish list of tech you’re hoping for this holiday season?
Throughout the year you discover tech that might pique your interest while other tech may not seem as enticing to you. Perhaps you already have all the tech you want. But maybe there’s a tech gift you’re hoping to get.
In this poll, vote for the favorite tech gifts you’d like to receive. The sky is the limit, don’t worry about price. This is a wish list, reality need not be involved.
Vote for as many as you want. If I’ve left out any tech you’re hoping for, vote Other and let us know what you want in the Comments section below.
This year I put “Smartwatch” as a choice in the poll, but last year that gift was not an option. What exciting new tech will next year’s list contain? Any predictions?
Which tech gifts did you vote for? Which tech gifts will you be giving this year? Is there one tech gift that you really, really are hoping to get? Let us know in the Comments section below!

Hi Carolyn,
I remember the interesting poll you had last year about the tech wish list ๐
This time, we went ahead and fulfilled our daughters wishlist and got her a tablet, so that’s one in the family, which is more than enough for all of us I’d say. Next I think it would be another good Smartphone and perhaps Ereader, or one of the two. I like the way you added the Batmobile in here too!! I’m sure many are going to choose that one too.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend, and Happy Thanksgiving ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Harleena, That’s great that your daughter has a tablet now. I bet she is finding it very useful! When the iPad first came out, I had friends who were a married couple who advised me that my husband and I would not be able to share a tablet. They said if I wanted to keep my marriage happy I should buy two tablets, one for my husband and one for me. So I did that and we still have a happy marriage! My husband isn’t really a techie, but he does like to use his iPad a lot to read the news and books.
You’re right, I do this poll every year, it’s one of my most popular polls. I also like seeing the different results each year, gauging the most popular tech that people want. I’m very curious to see this year’s poll results!
Thank you for your kind wishes, Harleena. Happy weekend to you too!

Hey Carolyn,
I wanted to thank you so much for your post about Dropbox a few weeks ago, because while I’m still figuring out how to download pictures and videos from my new tablet, I did find out how to use Dropbox to transfer my media from the tablet to my computer so I can use the pictures on my blog.
I tried to post a picture from dropbox to facebook, but it didn’t work though. I’m getting an error message and don’t know why ๐
Thanks so much for your expertise ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sylviane, I’m so very please you’re using Dropbox now. It’s a wonderful way to back up and sync your photos with your tablet and your computer.
I’m sorry you’re having difficulties posting your pictures from Dropbox onto Facebook. Are you posting them from your tablet or from your computer?
Thanks for letting me know that my article was helpful to you, Sylviane!
Himanshu says
Very nice poll Carolyn,
What are you planning to buy this Black friday and cyber monday??
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Himanshu, Great question! I’m planning on buying a loved one a Kindle Fire HDX for a Christmas gift this year. Other than that, I don’t have firm shopping plans for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I still need some inspiration for the people on my list!
What does your tech wish list look like, Himanshu? ๐
Mike Maynard says
Hi Carolyn,
I bought a smart phone and had a new set top box this year. I might even watch TV over Christmas. I watched Les Miserables last night. It was much better than I expected. I made a video with still photos and put it on DVD. The photos weren’t mine, but I did interesting editing. I have some new ideas for a video art work. I’m thinking about a new compeition, they want waterways pictures and I lost my best one! They have to be at 300 dpi, so I need to take some more. It’s the market and the Christmas lights switch on in the local town today and so I might photograph that. I think I might take my Nikon to my school reunion tonight too. I think I have at least 2 brothers coming and maybe all 4 of us tonight. I might think about a games console next year. The PS3 might keep me amused…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mike, Yes, you had a very busy tech year, plus you got a new camera too! Who knows what the game console market will look like a year from now? YOu may find one you want even more next year.
That’s a shame you lost your best waterway photo. That’s another good reason to use Flickr. With 1TB of free space you can upload high resolution photos at full quality and store them in your account. You may get discovered there too! :-bd
Jeevan Jacob John says
Batmobile……
Wish I had the money for that ๐ I will probably buy it in the future – make a custom car (of course, comes with all the advanced options, same as Bat mobile, not just for show).
I am happy with everything I have right now, but if I wanted something, it would be a professional camera (I am planning to buy one during Cyber Monday). I haven’t decided yet.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jeevan, I would love a Batmobile too. That would be so much fun! From the description and the video, the Batmobile seems to be a performance car as well as a show car. If I won the lottery…
I had “Camera” as one of the choices but deleted it as I didn’t want the poll to be too long. Sounds as if I should have kept that option. ๐
I’m glad you’re happy with everything you have now, Jeevan. That’s the best position to be in for everyone!
Jeevan Jacob John says
Another thing is that, with Batmobile, we have lot of options – from ’89 version to the Tumbler.
Yes, indeed ๐ I have happy with my life (not so much with the world, though. So many things we could do improve the world, to help others who suffer and don’t meet the basic needs).
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
That’s great, Jeevan. I’m glad you’re content with life. That’s quite an accomplishment. I’m also glad you’re discontent with the world. People who are discontent with the world are the ones who change the world. :-bd
Josh Kotsay says
I’d love to upgrade to the new iPhone 5S from my iPhone 4S. I really want to get LTE so I can browse the web faster. 3G is just so slow these days.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Josh, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, 4G/LTE makes a big difference in the speed of your connection. I hope you get your wish, Josh!
Thomas says
Hi Carolyn
I am still hoping someone buys me Batmobile for Christmas ๐
Other than that I actually prefer to buy me tech devices myself. That is why I almost never wish me any tech stuff for Christmas. I wish anything else I need and then I can use my own money on tech devices and can’t live without ๐
Enjoy your weekend Carolyn
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Thomas, You bring up a great point. Tech can be very personal. I wouldn’t want anyone buying me tech without getting a specific model from my wish list. While that may sound ungrateful, I use my tech thoroughly and keep it for a long time. Getting the wrong tech is worse than getting no tech at all!
On the other hand, I completely agree with you that getting the Batmobile as a gift would be fantastic! :-bd
Thomas says
Exactly Carolyn, but a Batmobile is also a pretty specific gift. I promise that I will not return it, if you buy me one this Christmas ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Good point, Thomas, but I think everything the Batmobile comes with is standard, I didn’t see any options available. So actually buying the Batmobile would be pretty easy, except for, you know, coming up with the funds to buy it. ๐
Narendra Kumar says
Nice experience to participate in this poll. Myself will put two products in this wish list First is Smart Watch And Second is 3D printer. Smart watches will be very helpful in daily routine life. 3D printer is really exciting one for me. I wish to print some 3D objects using that printer.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Narenda, Your wish list is very current! These are the latest options for holiday gifts, ones that you probably wouldn’t have had on your wish list last year. I’m looking forward to seeing which tech is new next year!
Jeremy Norton says
I wanna have the latest iPhone, the iPhone 6 and see what are its new features especially its camera features.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jeremy, Don’t wish too hard for an iPhone 6 as that probably won’t be out until fall 2014. The latest iPhone models are the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. But I hope you get one of those from your wish list!
Susan Neal says
Hi Carolyn – I’d like a tablet, but they’re so expensive and I don’t really NEED one – there are a few things on your list I’d like, but I probably wouldn’t have time to get my head round how to use them. I think I’ve really got as much as I need and have time to use at the moment.
To be honest, what I’d really like is a tame geek who could service and speed up my pc on a regular basis ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sue, Yes, need often isn’t a factor with tech, especially with a wish list! I think you would find that a tablet is more useful than you realize once you get one. Many tablet owners would probably say that they do, in fact, “need” their tablets.
Help with tech would be a wonderful gift, great idea, Sue! Perhaps someone with more tech talent than funds could gift a tech help session to their loved ones!
Ashley says
Hi Carolyn
Time for gifts again! I actually bought myself a new imac last week, out of necessity. My old computer was killing me, after 6 years. The new mac is crazy fast, easy to use and the screen is huge.
I also need to update my iphone 3s. Yes I do wait a while to update things, but usually buy good stuff to last.
Thanks for the poll, interested to see the results. I think tablets are leading the world..
ashley
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ashley, You’re very wise to invest in quality tech so you can keep it a long time without having to trade it in frequently. You’ll have a better experience and save money in the long run!
I’m glad you’re so pleased with your new iMac. I imagine you spend a lot of time on your computer so having one you like is very important for you.
Thank you for voting in the poll. I always enjoy seeing the results of the poll.
silviu says
Hi Carolyn,
I will vote for things that I need first. I need to change my desktop computer with a better one. I also need to try my hand with tablets and study this new technology. I like tablets but I still don’t have one.
Batmobile? What is this? Are you kidding me? ๐
Have a wonderful day
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
HI Silviu, Your wish list sounds very practical. I imagine with your work you would make good use of a tablet and a new computer.
I’m not kidding you. One of the items on The Wonder of Tech Best Holiday Tech Gifts 2013 https://wonderoftech.com/best-holiday-tech-gifts-2013/ is the Batmobile. And it is for real.
I hope you get everything on your wish list, Silviu!
Adrienne says
Well Carolyn,
Since I’ve met you I’ve bought an iPod, a laptop and upgraded to an iPhone. I seriously think I’m coming into the 21st century because of you although I’m still what you would consider seriously behind.
I really don’t have anything that I want as far as tech. I mean it would be cool to have a tablet but I would seldom use it because I’m on the computer all day. Once I get off here I do not want to pick up anything else.
I think probably my next purchase would be a Kindle so that I can read some of the books and reports I’ve downloaded on something besides my computer.
Thanks for always providing us with the coolest stuff out there.
~Adrienne
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, I think you’ll really enjoy a Kindle. With all of the reading we do on a computer screen, our eyes can get a rest with the eInk screen of the Kindle. I think you’d also like the Send to Kindle function so you could read articles at your leisure. Let me know if you’d like some guidance about which one to get.
You’re getting to be quite a techie, Adrienne! You’ve come a long way in a short time and I hope you’re enjoying all of your tech. ๐
