5 Fun Products Inspired by the Kindle Fire

Ever since the Kindle came out in 2007, it became an immediate sensation. So much so that it brought digital reading and or e-reading to the forefront and slowly but surely to the masses. Now it’s not uncommon to see someone carrying a Kindle while riding the subway and or simply walking by en route to their destination. In November 2011, the Kindle Fire was introduced by Amazon and it too became a big seller and an instant HUGE success. With this in mind, we thought it would be fun to scour the web and profile five cool and fun products inspired entirely by the Kindle Fire.

1. Kindle Fire Wall Mount – this super cool gadget allows you to place your Amazon tablet on a wall, fridge or other similar surface for hands-free reading, note taking, video viewing, web surfing, recipe watch, etc. The plastic mounts go on the wall and the tabs go on the back of your Kindle Fire and both come together by placing one over the other. Simple and quick to attach to any wall anywhere in your home – bedroom, kitchen, den, office, guest room and so on.

2. Kindle Fire Car Mount – this neat gadget is mounted on the back of a car seats headrest and allows your kid or backseat guests to enjoy a movie, video, TV show or simply listen to some cool tunes. Great for long rides and or family road trips. We found it on Amazon.

3. Kindle Fire Gamer Skin– for the gamers in the house. This slick skin for the Kindle Fire from Etsy has a classic gamer design and since it’s a skin applies like a sticker to the front and back of your tablet. Great for teens or any die-hard adult gaming pro.

4. Kindle Fire Leather Cover– you paid close to $200 for your Amazon tablet so why not protect your investment with something sexy and durable like this custom handmade all leather Kindle Fire cover. It comes from Etsy seller named Joe V Leather in Los Angeles, California and it features a soft suede lining, a design etching done entirely by hand and a reasonable price point at less than $60.

5. How To Train Your Dragon Kindle Fire Book Case – this makes for a great case due to several reasons. One is the awesome design of the book cover itself (from Etsy seller Pangolyn) and the second reason is that you sort of get to camouflage your Kindle Fire tablet inside the book making it look like an old hardcover and not some $200 expensive coveted tech gadget. Nice.

We hope you have enjoyed our round-up of fun products inspired by the Kindle Fire from Amazon and that you found something amusing, interesting or even a gift idea or two.

Let us know below in the comment area which product you liked best? And what other cool products we should include in our next list?

    Hi Rachel,

    Welcome to Carolyn’s blog! 🙂

I ain’t a personal user of the Kindle but my sister is and her kids are plain crazy about it. They keep telling me what new they are doing with it. They have the car mount and they like travelling even more now, given that they don’t have to listen to the “boring radio”.

Also, they got skins of their favorite cartoon characters! Seems like I should be using the kindle some day soon and putting on my favorite skins 😉

Thanks for all the info! Have a nice day!

Hi Hajra, Yes, Karen did a fantastic job with finding fun accessories for the Kindle Fire. I know a lot of people got a Kindle Fire for the holidays and, while it’s great to load it with content, accessorizing it can also be a lot of fun! 🙂

Hi Adeline, You’re right, this list is very cool, and I like Rachel’s suggestion to you to use the wall mount for recipes when you’re cooking!

    Hey, Adeline:

Yes the wall mount I can see as a great accessory for the kitchen to view (recipes) while making dinner.

Hi Rachel, welcome to Carolyn’s place.

It doesn’t surprise me about all these neat things that they have created since Kindle Fire came on the scene. That’s what helps everyone else with their creativity I suppose. A new product is released and people are going to find things to create around them.

As Carolyn knows me so well, I don’t have a Kindle or Kindle Fire but it doesn’t mean I don’t think they are so cool. Heck, if I purchased everything that came out I would be in such deep trouble. Thanks goodness I’m not a gadget nut.

Enjoyed the read and great choice for guest bloggers Carolyn. I hope you ladies have a great day!

Hi Adrienne, Yes, I am very grateful to Rachel for giving us such fun accessories. Even if you don’t have a Kindle Fire, it’s still fun to see what creative products are out there.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment, Adrienne! 🙂

    Hi Rachel/Carolyn,

I love this kind of stuff. It’s incredible to think about the additional products things like the Kindle and the iPad spawn. What would these companies/people be doing if these gadgets hadn’t come along?

These are all great – but I really like the leather cover. The skeleton etching is awesome – in freaky kind of way.

      January 21, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Hi Hamish, Yes, you’re right, these are very cool. Sometimes half the fun of getting a new device is picking out the accessories. It can take a while for cool accessories to come out when a new device is launched, but these didn’t take a long time at all.

I always liked that people couldn’t tell what I was reading when I got my Kindle. But you can fool people by using a cover that represents something quite different from your Kindle contents! 😀

Oh no, what are you doing to me Carolyn, you can’t allow guest posts that are telling awesome stuff about the Kindle Fire… you know I’ll just end up buying one 🙂

    Just kidding.

The Kindle Fire looks awesome, and the products you’ve listed looks awesome as well.. but for now, I’ll have to stick with my old Kindle and the iPad, my two best friends 🙂

      Hi Jens, You’re right, I’m just pure evil, aren’t I? 😉

I think if you already have an iPad and a Kindle you really don’t need a Kindle Fire. But if you need a less expensive tablet to keep your kids’ hands off of your iPad, the Fire is a great choice!

I have been mulling over purchasing the Kindle Fire but have been dragging my feet because I wanted to see how long it would take them to introduce Kindle Fire II.

I do like some of the gadgets you highlighted here. They look cool.

      January 21, 2012 at 12:48 pm

Hi Jack, I know, it’s tempting to wait for the next device. Sometimes I do that too, especially with the first generation of a device. We decided to get the Kindle Fire for one of my daughters and she absolutely loves it. She’s on it right now playing Monopoly.

Hi Ann Jane, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Wow, your husband writes ebooks for Amazon and you have a Nook. I guess he’s scoping out the competition!

I agree, the prices of ebooks are great, especially when you can get special deals. Make sure you check out my article, Load Your Kindle Lightly! about great deals on Kindle books!

Thanks for mentioning these great Kindle accessories. I particularly like the auto seat mount. Excellent for parents who want to keep the kids occupied on a long trip.

    • Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

      January 24, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Hi Kindles on Sale, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! So true, the car mount would end the fight of who gets to hold the Kindle Fire while watching a movie. Or, if you’re lucky enough to have kids who fall asleep in the car, you wouldn’t have to worry about them dropping the device as they nod off to sleep! 🙂
