If you’re looking for a fun way to share the Bible with your children, check out the free Bible for Kids app. This app, launched a few weeks ago, combines animation with narration and fun game features to tell the story of the Bible in a kid-friendly format. Your children will enjoy learning through play as they use Bible for Kids.
The app covers six stories from the Bible with more stories to be added in later updates. The stories begin with Genesis and continue with “The First Christmas Gift,” the story of the birth of Jesus.
Each story is a series of screens with text, sounds and colorful illustrations, teaching children while entertaining them. The app displays a split screen with an interpretation of a Bible passage on one side and animated scenes on the other. Tap the animation side to slide the text part of the screen out of the way and begin playing with the interactive features on the screen. I won’t spoil any surprises by telling you what happens as you tap on the scenes!
Here’s a video showing the Bible for Kids app being used:
Your children can collect objects and answer questions to earn stars along the way. By spending time on each scene they will make new discoveries and earn more stars. They will have fun with the scavenger hunt and collecting armor.
The app is from YouVersion, the developer of the Bible app for adults, an app with over 200 versions of the Bible available on your mobile device and a reading plan to read the entire Bible in one year.

You child doesn’t have to be a reader to use the Bible for Kids app. Each passage has narration available which you can turn off if you want your children to practice their reading skills. You can also use the narration to help your children learn to read as they follow along with the narration.
The adorable artwork and the engaging interactive features are bound to capture and retain the interest of many children. The app is designed for children from ages 6-8 but children of all ages will likely enjoy this app.
No need to register for an account. Just download the app and open it to get started. According to YouVersion, its Bible for Kids app is “the beginning of a lifelong love of God’s Word.”

Not much of a Bible reader/follower, but I can clearly see how big a hit this app can be, after knowing that it is the highest sold book ever in history.
