If you’re looking for a fun app that anyone of all ages can enjoy, check out Stop! a game that can be played alone or with teams. Stop! will challenge you to think quickly and test your knowledge of a wide variety of topics. In fact, if you’re wondering why people are asking you to “name something round beginning with the letter X” they’re probably playing Stop!
Stop! is a fun, addictive game app, similar to Scattergories, where you play against an opponent to guess words beginning with a letter in five different categories. Your entire family can play together, either in teams or against one another. You can even use Stop! to practice learning a foreign language.
The Stop! app is available free for Android devices and iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch in six different languages.
This video shows you how Stop! will give you fun on the go:
The game shuffles categories and selects five for you to play each round. Spin the wheel to choose a letter of the alphabet. You have to name something in each category that begins with that letter within the allotted time.
Categories include:
- Things that are round
- Human Body parts
- Oscar nominated movies
- Things that shouldn’t exist
- Superheros
- Romantic things
- Countries
and more.
Letters of the alphabet include all 26 letters, such as the easy ones (A, S, R, etc.) and the nearly impossible ones (X, Q, Z, etc.).
Each game lasts three rounds. Answer the most questions correctly and you win the round.
You can play against your Facebook friends or random opponents, alone or in teams. This is one game where you can play with anyone, across the miles and generations. Everyone will have different answers and enjoy the fun!
After you’re done answering the questions, you’ll see your answers in green (correct), red (wrong), yellow (almost correct). You get one point for each green answer and 1/2 point for each yellow answer.
Yellow Answers — Oops!
As you may imagine, typing quickly can lead to some misspellings, typos and other errors. Stop! will give you 1/2 point for yellow answers if it can figure out what you meant by your answer (and the answer would have been correct had you typed it properly).
You need to get at least 75% of the spelling correct to earn a yellow answer and 1/2 point.
So yes, spelling does count.
Rare Answers
Stop! encourages creative thinking by awarding an R badge for rare answers. Give a correct answer that few people give and be rewarded with the R badge.
In case of a tie, R badges will be used to break the tie. For example, if you and your opponent both answer all five categories correctly but you get an R badge for a rare answer, then you win that round!
Stop! the Round Now
The game gives you one minute to answer the five questions but you or your opponent can STOP the before the end of the round. The first player in a round can swipe down the red Stop button to end the round before the one-minute time limit.
If you’re the second player in a round, you don’t know how much time you have to answer the questions so answer quickly. The game might be STOPPED by your opponent at any time without warning.
Freemium
The app is free with opportunities for in-app purchases. You can play and have plenty of fun without spending a dime.
The app has you watch ads between rounds, mostly of other apps the developer offers. You can pay $1.99 to remove the ads (and support the developer).
Hearts
You get three hearts you use to start games. The hearts get replenished after 30 minutes. If you can’t wait you can buy extra hearts to start more games right away.
Coins
You earn coins by playing Stop!, watching videos and inviting friends You can spend coins to make the game more fun. For example, you can spend coins to change categories (if, let’s say, you’re not big on mythological characters) or spin the wheel to choose a different letter (in the event the letter Q isn’t your favorite).
Knowing Right from Wrong
The app does its best to figure out which of your answers are correct. But it admittedly can’t know everything. You can let the developers know if you believe an answer was mistakenly marked wrong. Tap on the answer to send Fanatee (the developers) a message that the answer is actually correct.
You’re then offered the option of letting them know that you believe the wrong answer is right. The developers will get to work immediately researching the answer tirelessly to include it in a future update. Or not.
Tips and Tricks
• Dictate answers to get the spelling correct and speed up your typing. Press the microphone button on your keyboard and speak your answer. Tap Done when you’re finished speaking.
• Clueless about a bunch of categories? Stop! the game after your first answer, before your opponent has a chance to type in all of the answers.
• Type in the first letter quickly for each category while you’re thinking of the answers to speed up your responses.
• If you’re the second player to answer, remember the game can be stopped at any time. Be quick!
• Don’t know an answer? Ask people around you to help, making this a team sport.
• Have fun!

Hi Jens, Yes, this game is a lot of fun. You can play it with your kids and help them to learn English!
Our whole family is playing this game together. Every so often someone will ask a question about a word that begins with a letter and I know they’re playing Stop!
I hope you and your family enjoy Stop! Jens.

so i want know about your reason about it, As you may imagine, typing quickly can lead to some misspellings, typos and other errors. Stop! will give you 1/2 point for yellow answers if it can figure out what you meant by your answer (and the answer would have been correct had you typed it properly)., whats its purpose?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Senam, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Great question! Yes, if you are asked to name an animal that begins with the letter E and you type “elephanr” you’ll get 1/2 point. But if you type wlwogsbfd you won’t get any points.
I like that you get 1/2 point if you’re close. Speed is at a premium when you play so typos are inevitable. It would be a shame if Stop! gave you no credit if you made minimal errors. At least that’s how I see it!

Amazing App. I am a person with low memory power. I think i should use this app to improve my memory. This app is also good for encouraging us for creative ideas. So we don’t need others support for an encouragement and we can verify our self.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sanjya, Yes, the opportunities to strengthen your brain certainly are abundant in Stop! You have to be able to remember quite a bit and think quickly, both skills that come in handy in life!
