Amazon held its fall event last week where it introduced brand new products and updates to existing products. If you already have Amazon products, your products may have become even more useful. And you may find some interesting new tech in these announcements.

Kindle Scribe

Kindle Scribe is a new product from Amazonthat transforms its Kindle ereader into a tablet you can write on. The Kindle Scribe uses eInk and comes with a glare-free Paperwhite 10.2-inch (25.91 cm), 300 pixels per inch (ppi) display so you can use it in bright sunlight. The pen never needs charging and the battery life of the Scribe tablet is months, according to Amazon.

Unlike Kindle ereaders, the Kindle Scribe comes with a pen/stylus that you can use to write on it. The Scribe includes a Basic Pen or you can opt for a Premium Pen that lets you push a button to activate an eraser or a highlighter. Like Kindle ereaders, you can read Kindle books on the Scribe.

“Kindle Scribe is the best Kindle we’ve ever built, creating a reading and writing experience that feels like real paper,” said Kevin Keith, vice president of Amazon Devices. “It’s inspired by the Kindle customers who have added billions of notes and highlights to books over the years, and it’s also ideal for reviewing and marking up documents, managing your to-do list, or doodling over a big idea. Plus, it offers all the Kindle benefits customers know and love—millions of books on demand, adjustable fonts, premium reading features, and weeks and weeks of battery life—with the benefit of a beautiful, large display.”

Halo Rise is another brand new product from Amazon, If you’ve been wanting a sleep monitor but don’t want to wear something on your wrist when you sleep, then Halo Rise may be for you.

Amazon’s Halo Rise is a device that sits on your nightstand to measure the quality of your sleep using low-power sensing technology. The device senses your respiration and movement patterns, without a camera or microphone.  It also measures temperature, light, and humidity in the room. Halo Rise can sense your ideal sleep stage for getting up and adjust your alarm time accordingly.
