Poll: Which New Apple Features Excite You?

The estimated reading time for this post is 1 minutes

As you might have read, this week is Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (see, WWDC: A Slice of Apple’s Future) and on Monday in the keynote speech, Apple introduced some of the new features in OS X Lion and iOS 5 arriving soon. I have heard from many readers how excited they are about the various features. Some are excited about features they have on their current devices that will be coming to the iPhone (such as Blackberry Messenger to iMessage and Kindle’s subscription delivery coming to iPhone’s Newstand). Others are thrilled at the idea of sharing files with Air Drop.

Which of these features are you most excited about? Let us know in the poll below! You can vote more than once if you are excited about multiple features.

Returning to the subject of Facebook friends (see Monday’s post Facebook: Why Won’t You Be My Friend?), I think I’ve found the ultimate demonstration of Facebook friendship:

It turns out the tattoos weren’t permanent so this isn’t the ultimate demonstration of Facebook friendship after all: Facebook Friend Sleeve Tattoo Is a Hoax, Artist Says. Sorry to disappoint you!

In other fun tech news, check out Google.com today which features a guitar you can play in honor of Les Paul’s 96th birthday. You can record your performance too.

Wow, all I voted for was iMessage, and quite pleased to see that’s what others thought too.
Personally, I think SMS (incoming) shouldn’t be charged at all. Heck even outgoing charges should be dropped to nothing. Because really, SMS few bytes of data takes almost no bandwidth. While VOIP has made international calls across the globe to be less than 2¢ per minute, is it justified paying 15¢ per SMS?
If anything can, iMessage can bury SMS to some extent.

Hello iRewardChart, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! I could not agree with you more regarding text messages. When I lived in England, I didn’t have to pay for incoming text messages, even when I was out of the country! And almost all cell phone plans just included unlimited text, it wasn’t an add on. Texting is much bigger there, as you can imagine.

I am looking forward to iMessage, but also Newstand. I have subscriptions on my iPad but I don’t like hunting them down in various apps. I really like the idea of one stop shopping with that app.

I also like the idea of geonotifications with reminders, but I’m thinking that app could be a huge battery hog so I may not use it so much.

Thank you very much for your visit, comment and tweet!

    Hi Carolyn,

I found WWDC to be very interesting, but I am not sure which new apple features that excites me the most. I am looking forward to the new OS, and iCloud seems amazing, but I just don’t know 🙂

I am still waiting for news about the iPhone 5, because I want to upgrade my phone at the end of the year… and I’m not buying a new phone unless it’s an iPhone 5.

Hi Jens, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! I completely agree, iPhone 5 can’t come soon enough for me. My 3GS has been acting up lately and I am excited about the new features of iOS 5. I can’t wait to see what Apple has in store for the iPhone 5.

Good news! The Les Paul guitar on Google, which has been a big hit, is now a permanent fixture on the web: Google Les Paul Guitar.
