I don’t know who complained that shopping online was too tough, but Amazon must have listened. If you’re among those who think navigating to a website or opening an app is burdensome or you just want shopping to be a little easier, you could be a candidate for the Amazon Dash Button.ย
Earlier this week, Amazon introduced a new way for Prime members to shop: the Dash Button. Now, when you want to buy a product from Amazon, all you have to do is push a button.
Literally.
Shopping just got a whole lot easier.
This video from Amazon shows how easy Dash Button makes shopping:

Dash Buttons are small gadgets about the size of a USB drive. They come with a loop and an adhesive backing so you can hang or stick them almost anywhere. You can put them in your laundry room, kitchen, bathroom, garage or any other place where you might run out of products and want to replenish your supply.
Push the Button and your order for the product will be placed instantly at Amazon, charged to your credit card and delivered to your default shipping address. As a Prime member you’ll get free 2-day shipping, making the process not only convenient but speedy.
No more need to worry about running out of products, adding them to a grocery list, driving to the store, or ordering them online.
- Just started your last roll of toilet paper?
- Down to your last few diapers?
- Running low on juice?
With just the touch of a Button you can place your order any time, day or night.
Each Dash Button is dedicated to a product sold at Amazon and is adorned with a logo so you know what you’re ordering when you push the Button. Over 240 items are included on the Dash Button Products Page, including laundry detergent, coffee pods, trash bags, pet food, beauty products and plenty more.
Dash Buttons are free to Prime members but you have to request an invitation from Amazon. If you’re selected, you’ll get an email in a few weeks that lets you choose which Buttons you want to receive. You can request your invitation from Amazon by clicking on this link: Amazon Dash Button request.
Having a smartphone is important to the process. You use the Amazon app on your phone to connect the Button to Wi-Fi and set the quantity of product you’d like to order.
After the Button has been pressed you’ll get a notification on your phone that your item has been ordered. You’ll then have a chance to cancel the order if the Button was pushed accidentally by you, an over-zealous toddler, a drunken house guest, a prankster friend, a surly teenager or anyone else in your home.
Multiple pushes of the Button won’t result in multiple orders being delivered. You only get one delivery at a time so repeated Button pushes won’t register unless your initial order has already arrived on your doorstep.
Your Thoughts
Are you excited about the Dash Button? Do you like the idea of being able to order products instantly at the touch of a Button? What products would you like to have a Dash Button for? Let us know in the Comments section below!

Hi, Carolyn, I had to check the link to make sure this wasn’t a late April Fool’s joke!
This sounds really convenient. I think I’d like the half-way house of pushing a button to add items to a shopping list and then reviewing them all later. That would be especially great for groceries. There’s probably a barcode-scanning app that scans to a shopping-list, have you heard of one?
Very interesting post.
Have a good weekend ๐

Hi Donald, Yes, this does sound like it could be an April Fool’s joke, but it isn’t. You really can these Buttons for your home to order products from Amazon easily.
Amazon launched the Dash bar about a year ago that lets you scan codes or use your voice to add items to your Amazon cart. My article about Dash is here: https://wonderoftech.com/amazon_fire_tv-dash/

Hi Carolyn,
This is wonderful news ๐
I think the dash button would be the perfect solution for those who have less of time and order a lot from Amazon. Honestly speaking, we get everything close by, the basics, and if anything needs to be ordered, perhaps for special occasions, one spends a little time by visiting the main site etc.
I guess this would work best for those who order bulk of a particular product, or have repeated order of a few things they use, or else, they’d have to stick several buttons all over their place!! A limited few are alright, depending on what your personal choices of ordered product is, but tough to have different ones – just my thoughts.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend, and Happy Easter to you and yours ๐

Hi Harleena, Yes, the Dash Buttons could be very convenient for products you tend to run out of. I would like some for paper towels and toilet paper. But you’re right, it would be easy to overdo Dash buttons and have them everywhere around your house!
We may become very spoiled by Dash buttons and tell our grandchildren some day that in olden times we actually had to go to a website to shop!
