Shopping on Amazon can be easy, until it comes to getting your package delivered. Getting your packages may be the biggest challenge of the shopping experience.
You may not have a convenient spot for delivery. Perhaps your home doesn’t have a sheltered place for packages to be left. Maybe your apartment building doesn’t have a place for packages. Maybe your workplace doesn’t allow personal deliveries.
Or maybe packages that were supposed to be delivered disappear or never arrive. Or perhaps you’re traveling and won’t be home until after the package is due to be delivered.
Many issues surround deliveries from Amazon, and the company has explored various ways to solve these issues. Amazon Locker is one way to get Amazon package delivered to you in a safe and secure way.
Ways Amazon Can Deliver Packages to You
In addition to delivering to your doorstep, Amazon has other ways of getting packages to you.
Amazon Key lets deliverers drop off packages inside your home so you don’t have to be there to receive a package. See, Amazon Key – Get Packages Delivered Inside Your House. But you may not be comfortable with someone entering your home when you’re not there.
Amazon can also deliver packages inside your car with Amazon Key-In Car, so your package is waiting for you when you arrive back at your vehicle. Check out, Amazon Key In-Car: Get Packages Delivered Inside Your Car. But this service is only available for some models of cars in limited areas.
The company has even explored delivery by drone so your packages can come to you wherever you are. Learn more at Amazon Prime Air Drone Delivery: Cool, Convenient or Creepy? But Jeff Bezos’s prediction of drone deliveries starting by the end of 2015 didn’t come to be. We’re still waiting for an Amazon drone to drop off a package right to us.
But there is another option to get your packages delivered — Amazon Locker.
Amazon Locker Deliveries
Amazon Locker is a delivery option that might be a better solution for many people. If delivering a package to your doorstep isn’t convenient, or you’re expecting a delivery of a gift to someone in your household, you may want to use an Amazon Locker to receive your packages from Amazon.
Amazon Lockers are locked storage bins in locations such as convenience stores, gas stations and, most recently, Whole Foods. Since Amazon completed its purchase of the grocery chain, many Whole Foods stores have added Amazon Lockers for receiving package deliveries.
Using Amazon Locker can be easy and convenient. You don’t pay a delivery charge for using the Locker. You can also return items using an Amazon Locker.

How to Use an Amazon Locker for Delivery
To use an Amazon Locker, you first have to determine whether you have one near you. Check the Find a Locker Location page at Amazon to search for a Locker convenient to you. (This link is for Amazon Locker locations in the U.S. Check with Amazon in your country for Locker locations if you’re outside the U.S.).
You’ll see a results page with a list of Amazon Locker locations, as well as a map. The hours of the store will be listed next to each location.
Choose the location that’s most convenient for you, then tap Select to add it to your Amazon address book.
When you place an order at Amazon, look at the shipping address and tap Change to access your address book. Choose the Amazon Locker location as the shipping address. After you purchase the item, the confirmation email will include the location of the Amazon Locker where your package will be delivered.
You’ll receive an email when your delivery arrives, complete with a Pickup Code to unlock your Locker. The email will tell you the location of the Locker and the hours the location is open for business.
You’ll also see the deadline to pick up your item. After three calendar days your item will be returned to Amazon if you have not yet picked it up.
When you arrive at the Locker, you can scan the code using your phone or tap the Pickup Code on a keypad. Your Locker door will open and you can pick up your package.
You’ll receive a confirmation email after your package has been picked up.
Limitations of Amazon Lockers
Amazon Lockers can be very convenient, but they do have some limitations. Lockers are generally inside stores so are accessible only during store opening hours. Make sure the store hours are convenient for you before choosing an Amazon Locker location.
Some packages are not eligible for Amazon Locker delivery. Eligible items are those that:
- Have a shipping weight less than 20 lbs.
- Have product dimensions smaller than 19 x 12 x 14 inches
- Are sold or fulfilled by Amazon.com
- Are valued at less than $5,000
- Contain no hazardous materials
- Are not Subscribe & Save items
- Do not contain items shipped from other countries
- Do not contain items for Release-Date Delivery
You also need to be certain you can pick up your item within three calendar days from when it’s delivered to your Locker. If you send an item to an Amazon Locker when you’re away on vacation, and then decide to extend your vacation a week, your item will be returned to Amazon and you’ll get a full refund. (If that’s the case, go ahead and extend your vacation. No need to worry about your Amazon package at all…)

Hi Carolyn,
Amazon locker delivery looks like a very good option. You can select your store and pick it up during their business hours at your convenience. It does have some limitation. However I think the benefits are more.
Thank you for sharing this post. Have a great day. 🙂

Hi Sajid, Good point, checking the opening hours of the business with the Amazon Locker is important. Most seem to have long hours, but do be sure to check first before sending a package to an Amazon Locker.

I believe Amazon will be ahead in terms of innovation when compared to its adversaries.
It has already crossed 1 Trillion Valuation and could become the most valued company in the world beating the likes of Apple and Facebook.
I would love to try out the Amazon Locker Delivery system soon.
Thanks for informing us about this new feature from Amazon.

Hi Praveen, Great question. Yes, Amazon Locker is available in other countries outside the U.S.
This option is extremely convenient to make sure your packages from Amazon are delivered in a safe and secure location. People may not be comfortable with getting packages delivered inside their homes or cars, but getting inside a locker is easy.
You’re right, the biggest obstacle is having an Amazon Locker location near you. With Whole Foods now having Amazon Lockers, Amazon is making Lockers convenient for many more people.
I hope Amazon Lockers work well for you, Praveen.
