If you’re an Amazon Prime member, life just got a little better. Maybe a lot better, if you’re a fan of movies and TV shows. One of the benefits of Amazon Prime membership is Prime Videos, a service like Netflix that lets you watch TV shows and movies for free.
This week Amazon added a new benefit to Prime membership: you can now download eligible Prime Video shows and movies, in addition to streaming them. Unlike Netflix, or any other video streaming service, Prime now lets you download videos to your mobile devices for free.
Downloading videos is now available in for Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Austria
You can download Prime Videos to your:
- iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch
- Android devices
- Fire devices
Save these videos to your mobile device so you can watch them when you’re traveling and away from the Internet, such as in a plane, car, beach or International Space Station. Having these videos downloaded to your device means you don’t have to worry about glacially slow Internet speeds at hotels or other places that charge you for Wi-Fi, then give you dial-up speeds.

No need to fret about videos buffering or stuttering. You don’t have to see pixelated images or frozen videos. Download your videos over high-speed Wi-Fi so you have them handy wherever you are.
You can fill up your available space on your device for free with plenty of entertainment to keep you busy for hours or days on end. Keep some videos handy for when you’re stuck with nothing to do and away from the Internet.

You may be thinking that you won’t find any interesting TV shows and movies to download. Good news! You can find shows such as:

Availability
You need to be an Amazon Prime member to download Prime movies for free. You can get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime here: Amazon Prime.
Use the Amazon Video app on your mobile device to download videos:
For Fire devices, tap Video to access Prime videos.
You can delete videos from within the app. Make sure to do this so you don’t run out of space on your device.

Hi Leslie, Yes, if you’re already an Amazon Prime member you can start downloading movies now for your next trip! Airline and hotel Wi-Fi speeds can be too slow for streaming videos. Now you can download videos from Amazon Prime and have them handy wherever you go!

Really i don’t know that through amazon prime we can freely download movies and TV shows and watch anytime by freely streaming to it. From this features we can download and watch our favourite movies and tv shows at our laptop,phone and also on tablet. Thanks carol for showing me this unknown thing.
Hi Rahul, Yes, this is a very useful feature for Amazon Prime members. You don’t need to worry about having a high-speed Internet connection when you watch movies. Download them when you do have a strong connection, then watch them any time.
Our family just traveled to Alaska and were either away from the Internet completely or had very slow connections so we couldn’t stream any videos during our trip. I’m so glad this will be available for our next trip@

Hi Mohit, Great question! According to the Amazon Instant Video Terms and Conditions page: “You can have a maximum of 25 total Prime Instant Video titles downloaded at a time across all devices associated with your Amazon.com account. If you have a Prime membership or Prime free trial, you can stream any video that is currently designated as a Prime Instant Video title on its detail page. You can watch Prime Instant Video titles that you’ve downloaded within a limited viewing period, which varies by title.
