What Not to Buy

If you see a deal on a no-name Android tablet that seems too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t even think about getting an Android tablet if you don’t know the name of the manufacturer and the price is less than $100. Cheap Android tablets could be riddled with malware and security vulnerabilities.

Blue Box Labs tested Android tablets for security issues and found that inexpensive tablets are no bargain. Get one of these tablets and you run the risk of having your data hijacked. See, Santa or the Grinch: Android Tablet Analysis for the 2014 Holiday Season for more details.

    Hi Carolyn,

Hope you had a love Thanksgiving, though the celebrations perhaps carry on right through the weekend, especially with Black Friday & Cyber Monday lined up! 🙂

Loved these deals, and I know many people are going to be spending this weekend, just shopping! So, they’d know right where to head to, especially with such wonderful offers mentioned right here – the right place to shop! I’ve been trying a little too at my blog, so know about the Amazon and Ebay ones and put up a Black Friday Deals page too, which I keep updating! So, happy shopping too!

Thanks for sharing, and enjoy your holiday weekend 🙂

Hi Harleena, Thank you, yes, my family and I had a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving together. My daughters and nieces want to go shopping today but I think the only shopping I’ll be doing is online. The malls and regular stores are packed with aggressive shoppers so I’ll be using my keyboard instead of my car to get to the best deals.

Yes, you have a wonderful article on Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals at your site. There are so many deals, it’s great to have these resources. I’ll be updating this article too but Amazon is having 10 minute Lightning Deals so we can’t cover all of them!

I hope you have a happy shopping experience, Harleena!

Thanks Carolyn for including us! Very honored.

Hey, quick tech question. My son wants an Amazon TV for Christmas but was looking at the Amazon Fire Stick as an alternative. I like the price point on it and not sure what the Amazon TV does that the Stick doesn’t? Any thoughts? thanks!

Hi Kyle, Great article on Free Shipping sites! I was happy to share your blog post with my readers.

I just got word from Amazon that the Fire TV will be on sale in a Lightning Deal this afternoon for $69: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CX5P8FC Keep checking to get the sale price.

The Fire TV stick is $39 and is out of stock until January 15, according to Amazon’s website: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GDQ0RMG/ref=fs_ftvs

The Fire TV is a more powerful machine with a quad-core processor, as opposed to the dual core of the stick. The Fire TV has 2 GB of memory, vs 1 GB on the stick, so can play higher performance game. The Fire TV has voice controls for Prime Video built into the remote. Amazon has said that the Fire TV stick will have that capability eventually in the app but the app hasn’t been released yet. The Fire TV has ethernet and audio out ports while the stick doesn’t.

If you can get the Fire TV at $69 today, you’d be getting a very good buy, Kyle!

Hi Carolyn, Happy Thanksgiving. These are great ideas. I bought a few new things myself this weekend. A new camera, Nikon D7100 with a Nikon NIWU1A WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter. This adapter allows you to control the camera from your idevice. Also a new camera strap from Black Rapid which is designed for women and gives $10 to cancer research! I know Black Friday is to purchase Christmas presents, so I did….for me.

    LOL Enjoy!

Hi Robin, I’m so glad you were a successful Black Friday shopper! Yes, the deals can be too good to pass up, especially for ourselves. Hey, we know best what we want and when it’s on sale we should jump at the deal!

Your camera sounds very cool, especially how you can control it from an app. I hope you enjoy your new camera and strap. Thanks for sharing your successful purchase news with us, Robin. 🙂

Hi Deepika, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, I have been wearing my Pebble watch for nearly 2 years now and hate being without it. Getting notices of phone calls, text messages, etc. without having to pull out my phone is very handy!

Go to the Pebble website to get your Pebble watch. They have the best prices and selection.
