Apologies and Shoutout
This week was a bit glitchy behind the scenes at The Wonder of Tech. Mystery abounded as my sidebar suffered from the pull of gravity and dropped to the bottom of the page, below the article and comments. My attempts to propel the sidebar back to its rightful place resulted in not only futility but in two articles being resent to subscribers. I’m very sorry about that. The Wonder of Tech never spams our subscribers.
Kim Castleberry, top blogger and coder, came to my rescue and was able to fix the issue, though the reason for the sidebar drop was unfathomable to her and four other top coders she consulted. Many thanks to Kim for working so hard and getting The Wonder of Tech back on track!
If you need help with your website, I highly recommend you hire Kim who not only knows her stuff but also works tirelessly to get the job done right.

What a good idea.
I’ve just cancelled my Netflix and Lovefilm subscriptions as I wasn’t using them. This could convince me to start using them again.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mark, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, this is just what we need to make finding movies easier. We don’t want to spend more time searching for a movie than we do watching a movie!
Gramps says
Thanks, Tech Lady. You (and the “Can I Stream It” gang) must have been reading my mind.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Gramps, Yes, Can I Stream It can make movie night super easy. You can easily find which movies are available where and what price you’ll pay. I’ve been amazed at the difference in prices between movies on different services. It can be such a hassle to check this yourself, but this site makes the search easy.
Enjoy your movie, Gramps!
Adrienne says
Hey Carolyn,
Now that’s a handy service. Although I really don’t watch a lot of movies, because of my hearing, I would like to check a few out and if there is a service or way I can view them with the caption that I’m all for it. I know you’ve reported about this as well so more and more services are coming for people like me.
Thanks for this handy tip Carolyn.
So glad you had some people to your rescue but your sidebar is still way down below the comments. I can’t imagine having to deal with that and hope that Kim can get that resolved for you. Another thing we don’t know how to fix right!

Hi Adrienne, a friend of mine who just got a Roku 3 told me that the remote doubles as a headphone jack so you can listen to your TV with headphones using the remote. Would that be helpful,to you?
I’m wondering if clearing your cache would help you see the sidebar where it should be? I’m seeing it in place on my computer and on my iPad. Thanks for letting me know!
Adrienne says
Sometimes that helps but most cases it doesn’t. It just turns up the volume but if you don’t understand what they’re saying it’s just louder. Some words sound exactly alike so I get them mixed up. Being able to read what they’re saying is so much better. It’s a pain but at least I can enjoy the movie. I can’t watch DVD’s anymore because I can’t hear what they’re saying. Bummer!
I cleared my cache and you’re right. That did the trick! Yay!!!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, That’s great news that the sidebar popped up again. Thanks for letting me know that.
Good news if you have Netflix and a Roku 2.
The movies and TV shows have to have closed captions available. Here is a link that shows TV shows available online with closed captions: http://www.spreety.com/Shows-Closed-Caption.aspx
You can also watch movies from iTunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/inside-itunes/2011/09/finding-closed-caption-programming-available-on-itunes.html and Amazon Instant Video http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201112470 with closed captions.
I hope this helps, Adrienne!

Hi Carolyn , Can I stream it looks to be an excellent service but I am coming across this fro the first and that too at your blog. I have been to the site and now I am going to try the Android application.
Apart from the post I really can understand the difficulties you might have had while getting your sidebar at the right place. I hope thing do good in future and nothing such happens again.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Kumar, I’m so glad you like the site and are going to try the Android application. I think this is such a handy service to have for movie and TV fans.
Thanks for your good wishes. Although I know personal technology, coding is a skill I have yet to master so I turn to the experts when I’m stuck. Thanks to Kim my sidebar is back where it should be.
Hope your weekend is going well, Kumar!

Thanks for the recommendation, i have yet to check – but in my past experiences regional blocks by the sites have hampered all my efforts. cheers again.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Primo, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! I hope Can I Search It is available in your country. The service is very handy and may be able to save you money as well.
Jens P. Berget says
Wow Carolyn. This is perfect for me. I love watching movies and TV shows, and I am watching Netflix every single day, but I have discovered that many of the movies I want to watch are not on Netflix, this way I can hopefully find some of them, and maybe it’s possible to watch them in Norway as well 🙂
Thanks.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jens, Yes, my husband and I were visiting friends a few days ago and decided to watch a movie. The movie we decided on was only available for purchase and was very expensive. So we had to hunt to find a movie available for rent (or free) and what prices each service charged for the movie. Can You Stream It would have made this process much easier and faster.
I hope this service is available for you in Norway, Jens!
Frank Cern says
This seems to be another timesaver. Can I Stream It looks to be similiar to Samsung’s WatchOn app.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Frank, You’re right, Can I Stream It can save you both time and money, both of which could be put towards watching more movies! 😉
Hugo Gonçalves says
This is equivalent to skyscanner for flights or priceline for hotels. They aggregate information from several suppliers and give you organized options. I wonder if this can be/is being explored in other markets…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Hugo, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Great idea, I hope this concept does expand to many markets so our lives can be easier.
Prakash says
Great share, I think you are absolutely right. I have searched a lot about movie and browsed dozens of site. It is quite embarrassing. But thanks for sharing this nice post.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Prakash, No need to be embarrassed. We all have to hunt through different service to see which ones have which movies at which prices. But this website makes the task easier.
Enjoy!
Mike Allton says
Wow! This is awesome! That’s exactly the kind of app I needed. Thanks Carolyn!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us, Mike!
Jeremy Norton says
