Tech starts off the year with a bang with CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. CES is filled with the latest gadgets, cars, TVs, computers, and other futuristic devices that may change your world or may never be available in real life.
Either way, CES gives us a fun and fascinating view of what the most imaginative minds in the tech world are thinking. Find out what was the most intriguing tech introduced at CES 2023 to get a glimpse into our future.
BMW i Vision Dee – Color Changing Car
In the future, you may not have to struggle over the decision of what color car you want. Instead, you may be able to change the color of your car easily. At CES, BMW introduced the iVison Dee, a concept car that uses an E Ink skin. According to BMW, Dee stands for “Digital Emotional Experience – and that is precisely its aim: to create an even stronger bond between people and their cars going forward.”
E Ink, the technology that ereaders such as the Kindle use, is embedded into the skin of the iVision Dee. With this cutting-edge tech, drivers can choose from 32 shades to change the color of their car. No need to pick one color, the iVison Dee can display multiple colors in the car’s 240 E Ink segments to match your outfit, blend into the scenery, or stand out in a crowd.
Changing colors isn’t the only nifty feature of the iVision Dee. It also has a heads-up display (HUD) that spans the windshield’s width. Drivers can choose how much information they want to be displayed on the HUD, as well as whether the format is digital or analog. The car’s side windows can dim, display virtual reality, and show a driver’s avatar.
BMW plans to incorporate some of this technology in its NEUE KLASSE line of cars beginning in 2025.
LG Signature OLED M3 97″ Wireless TV
If you’re looking for the biggest TV with a high-quality screen and an absence of wires, check out the LG Signature OLED M3 97″ Wireless TV. This is the largest model TV with an OLED screen, displaying the highest picture quality for a TV screen. LG explained that this is “the world’s first consumer TV with Zero Connect technology, a wireless solution capable of real-time video and audio transmission at up to 4K 120Hz.”
Beyond the size of the TV screen is the lack of wires connecting external devices. This TV connects wirelessly to a Zero Connect Box transmitter that can be hidden in a cabinet, behind a chair, or in some other out-of-the-way place. The transmitter box can be up to 30 ft (91.44 m) away from the TV and comes with 3 HDMI ports, allowing you to connect up to three external devices.
LG plans to release this TV later in 2023, along with 83 in (210.82 cm) and 77 in (195.58 cm) models. No pricing has been announced.
Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i Dual-Screen Laptop
When is a laptop not a laptop? When it’s a Yoga Book 9i Dual-Screen Laptop that seems more like a tablet than a laptop.
But the cool thing about the YogabBook 9i is that it has two screens connected with a hinge. You can position the dual screens in a variety of configurations and use the stylus, the on-screen keyboard, or the Bluetooth keyboard to enter data.
You can multitask, viewing two different websites on the dual screens, or spread one site across both screens. The Dolby Atmos spatial audio and a 360-degree rotating sound bar featuring Bowers & Wilkins speakers mean that you can enjoy exceptional audio if you want to use the Yoga Book 9i as a device for entertainment.
Lenovo plans to launch this laptop on June 2023 in the color Tidal Teal for an estimated price of $2,099.99.
Atmos Gear Electric Skates
If you’ve ever seen an animated character zip around the screen with motorized skates and wished that you could do that too, well, you’re not alone. The founder of Atmos Gear, Mido, did just that when he was in middle school while he watched Japanese anime “Air Gear”. That inspired him to become an engineer so he could make motorized skates a reality.
Atmos Gear electric in-line skates is literally Mido’s dream come true. He and his team first started working on the electric in-line skates concept in 2018 and now Atmos Gear is offering them for sale worldwide.
These skates can travel at up to 20 mph (32 kph) and are powered by a battery that can last for up to 20 miles (32 km). The battery pack isn’t contained in the skates. Instead, you strap the battery pack around your waist and connect it to the skates via cables. You can control the motor via a remote control small enough to keep in your pocket.
Pre-orders are available now for $500 per pair of electric in-line skates at the Atmos Gear website.
LG MoodUp Refrigerator
If you’re not dancing in the kitchen now, well maybe that’s the fault of your refrigerator. The LG MoodUp refrigerator is sure to get you up off your chair as it transforms your kitchen into a dance hall. And isn’t that exactly what you want from your refrigerator?
The LG MoodUp Refrigerator has glass panel doors that can change colors via its accompanying app. You can select a color pallet based on the season, such as winter or spring, based on your mood, or based on your decor.
Tap a door and the glass panel becomes transparent so you can see inside. If you leave a door open, the colors will flash to warn you. The MoodUp’s illuminated doors can guide your way in the dark if you’re hankering for a midnight snack.
But the best feature of the MoodUp is its Bluetooth speaker that can play music streaming from your phone while the door colors flash in sync with the beat. Suddenly, your kitchen becomes Party Central!
LG has not announced a price or a launch date, but our existing refrigerators now seem as if they aren’t even trying to entertain us!
Withings U-Scan
Withings U-Scan is tech that could fascinate you, gross you out, or make you laugh. This unique tech device is placed in your toilet and you pee on it. U-Scan then analyzes your urine and sends health information to its app on your phone.
At launch, U-Scan will have two different cartridges available to analyze urine. One cartridge is designed. to measure women’s health. That cartridge can detect hormones in the urine and send information about the user’s menstrual cycle and ovulation status to her phone. The other cartridge can detect nutrition information, such as hydration, protein and vegetable intake, carbohydrate intake, and vitamin C levels.
Withings hopes to expand its U-Scan cartridge offerings to ones that diagnose diseases, including some cancers.
U-Scan has a battery life of three months, according to Withings. You recharge it using a USB cable. The cartridges also last about three months. Presumably, you can charge it and change the cartridge at the same time. Included with the U-Scan is a pair of gloves.
Withings is planning to start selling U-Scan in Europe at the end of the second quarter this year. The company is awaiting FDA approval for U-Scan in the US. When it’s launched, U-Scan will cost €499.95.
You can learn more about U-Scan at the Withings website.

The wireless lg tv is exciting. Sounds like they’re pushing the Samsung Frame tv to the next level. The weight and depth will be key. Such great potential! Thanks, Carolyn.
p.s. Good thing U-Scan includes gloves!!

Hi Leigh, Yes, tech news from CES is always exciting, though some tech is more exciting for others. The LG tv is quite thin but any large screen is going to be heavy.
You definitely need gloves for U-Scan! Perhaps they should include more than one pair?
