You can easily create a customized Echo flash news briefing to update you each morning. Or anytime during the day when you want to know what’s happening in the news.

Amazon Echo lets you create a customized flash news briefing, filled with the news sources you select.
You don’t have to set up a customized briefing. By asking, “Alexa, play my flash briefing,” you’ll hear a generalized news briefing.
By taking a few minutes, you can customize your flash news briefing to maximize its relevance for you.
How to Customize Your Echo Flash News Briefing
Customizing your Echo flash news briefing is quick and easy.
First, open the Alexa app on your phone. In the bottom menu bar, tap the More icon with the stripes. Then tap Settings.
Scroll down to News under Alexa Preferences. Tap Flash Briefing under Household Preferences.
On the next screen, you’ll see a list of available news sources. Turn on the sources you want to be included in your flash briefing.
Adding More Content to Your Flash News Briefing
You can add more news sources to your flash briefing by tapping the plus sign + next to Add Content.
On the next screen, you’ll see a list of additional news sources.
Amazon lists nearly 8,000 news sources in the app. You can search for your favorite news source or filter the results by:
- Average Customer Review
- Relevance
- Release Date
Tap a news source to add it to your flash news briefing. You might need to tap Enable Skill to add the content to your Echo flash briefing if you haven’t already enabled the skill for your account.
Changing the Order of the Content in Your Flash Briefing
After you’ve selected your flash briefing news sources, you may want to change the order of the content in your briefing. You may want the most important source to be read first and the least important source to be read last.
To customize the order of content in your flash news briefing, unselect all news sources. Then, select the ones you want to be included in your briefing, in the order you’d like them to be read.
Or, tap Edit in the upper right corner of the screen. On the next screen, tap and hold the two lines next to a news source. Then slide it up or down to the place where you’d like it to be.
When you’re finished, tap Done to finalize the order of your selected news sources.
Listening to Your Echo Flash News Briefing
After you’ve finished customizing your briefing, ask, “Alexa, play my flash briefing. ” Or ask, “Echo, play my flash briefing.” Or ask, “Ziggy play my flash briefing.” Depending on what you call your Echo device.
