If you’re a fan of Bitmojis, Animojis, Memojis, and other fun ways to express yourself, you’ll be delighted to know that Facebook is launching avatars in the U.S. Now you can create your own Facebook avatar to look like you, or how you want the world to see you, in a few easy steps.
About Facebook Avatars
Facebook first launched avatars nearly a year ago in Australia and has been rolling out the feature in New Zealand, Europe, and Canada. Now avatars are becoming available to Facebook users in the U.S. so more people can express themselves beyond using emojis, stickers, and reactions.

Facebook revealed its big news in an announcement a few days ago:
So if you have Facebook friends in the U.S. you may begin to see a flurry of new avatars from them in your Facebook feed.

If you want to join in the fun and create your own Facebook avatar, here’s how to do it —
How to Create Your Facebook Avatar
You can create your Facebook avatar in the Facebook app for Android and iOS (iPhone/iPad). To create your Facebook avatar, open the Facebook app and look for an invitation to create your avatar. You may also see an invitation to create your Facebook avatar when one of your friends posts about their avatar.
If you don’t see the invitation, you may not have access to avatars yet because Facebook is rolling them out gradually in the U.S.
You can also check to see whether you can create an avatar by starting to leave a comment on a Facebook post. Tap the smiley button, then tap the sticker tab. Next tap Create Your Avatar.
You’ll be taken through a series of steps where you can make important choices such as hair color, hairstyle, clothing, and the shape of your eyes, nose, face, and body. You can add optional glasses and headwear to complete your style.
Despite launching avatars a year ago in other parts of the world, Facebook hasn’t expanded its avatar options nearly as widely as other Bitmoji-like services have. You’ll find fewer choices for hair color and styles, makeup, fashion, and other personalized options, but that may change in the future. Hopefully, Facebook will add a wide assortment of fashion choices, accessories, and other ways to enhance your avatar.
When you’ve completed the steps to create your avatar you’ll see the finished sticker.
Now you can begin to have fun using your avatar on Facebook.
How to Use Your Facebook Avatar
As of now, Facebook avatars are stickers used in Facebook and Messenger comments.
In a comment to a Facebook post or message in Messenger, tap the smiley button.
Then choose the avatar you want to add to your comment by tapping it.
Note => Avatars in Messenger may not be available for you yet, even if you do have them in the Facebook app. I was able to create my avatar and use it in the Facebook app, but I don’t have access to my avatar in the Messenger app.
Using Your Facebook Avatar in a Post or As Your Profile Photo
Using your avatar in a Facebook post or as your profile photo is a little tricky. After you create or edit your avatar, you’re given the option of using your avatar in a post and/or as your profile image. Tap the arrow button to share your avatar in a post or as your profile photo.
But as of now, using your avatar doesn’t appear as an option when you’re creating a Facebook post or changing your profile photo.
Editing Your Facebook Avatar
As pleased as you may be with your new Facebook avatar, there may come a time when you want to change your avatar’s look or style. Maybe you’ve changed your own look or style in real life. Or maybe you just want to express yourself differently.
To edit your Facebook avatar, open the comment space on a Facebook post then tap the smiley button. Then tap Edit Avatar.
Follow the steps and make changes until you’re satisfied with your new and improved avatar.
