How to See, Edit, and Share (or Hide) Your Facebook Year in Review Video

If you’ve been on Facebook, you’ve probably seen Facebook Year in Review videos, for yourself and/or your friends. These year-end videos are filled with friends, memories and posts from the past year.

Facebook’s Year in Review videos can be a heartwarming reminder of wonderful times. Or they could contain memories you wish had stayed in the past.

About Your Facebook Year in Review Video

When you log into Facebook next, you may be greeted with your personal Year in Review video for 2017. The video shows you moments from the year, birthday wishes, friends old and new, and photos you’ve posted and/or have been tagged in.

Here’s a sample of a Facebook Year in Review video:

You’ll also see that some of your friends have probably shared their Year in Review videos. If they’ve posted their videos, you can share in their joy with them by viewing, Liking and commenting.

But not everyone has enjoyed 2017. You may not want to relive events of the past year.

The good news is that you are in control. You don’t even need to watch it. You can decide whether keep your Facebook Year in Review video hidden from everyone else, if you’d prefer not to share it with others.

You can also edit your Facebook video, if you’d prefer to remove a memory from 2017.

When and if you’re pleased with your Facebook Year in Review video, you can share it with others. If not, no need to share.

How to See Your Facebook Year in Review Video

Facebook is rolling out its Year in Review videos, so not everyone has them yet. They just started appearing yesterday so if you don’t have yours yet, no worries.

If you log into Facebook and don’t see your video, go to Facebook Year in Review page.

Your video may be available at that page.

Where to Find Your Facebook Year in Review Video

But if you weren’t active on Facebook this year, you may not have a Year in Review video.

Your Facebook Year in Review video may be nearly perfect. Perhaps it’s filled with fun memories, except for the time when…

Well, you get the idea.

You can edit your video at the Facebook Year in Review page. Find your video and click on the Edit button.

How to Edit Your Facebook Year in Review Video

From there you can choose which photos from the year you’d like to include in, or exclude from, your Facebook Year in Review video.

Sharing or Hiding Your Facebook Video

When and if you’re satisfied with your Facebook video, you can share it with others by clicking the Share button.

You can add a message, or share it without adding any words.

If you want to keep it hidden from the rest of the world, don’t share it. Your video won’t be shown to your friends on Facebook unless and until you click the Share button.

Your Facebook Stats

Even if you’ve already seen your Facebook Year in Review video, you still may want to visit the Facebook Year in Review page to view your stats for the year. See how many Likes, Loves, Ha Has, Wow and other Reactions your friends gave you this year.

See how many new friends you’ve made this past year, and which friends are your biggest fans.

Facebook’s Own Year in Review

Facebook has shared its year in review, enlightening us with its stats from 2017. According to the Facebook’s Year in Review page, the most popular topics discussed globally on Facebook this year were:

  • International Women’s Day
  • Super Bowl 51
  • Las Vegas Violence

While 2017 was a year filled with tragedy from natural disasters to violence, it was also a year that people used social media to reach out and support each other.

Facebook said that the top three events where people used Facebook to help others were:

  • The Earthquake in Mexico
  • Hurricane Harvey
  • One Love Manchester

2017 was also a year that people joined together on Facebook to share common experiences. The most popular shared events on Facebook in 2017 were the Solar Eclipse and the Women’s March in DC.

    This is always fun to watch. I just checked out my Facebook Review Video. It is not yet ready, but I guess it will be a matter of days before it ready for me too.

      Hi Thomas, I’m sure you’ll get it soon. Facebook generally releases them over a few days.

      I hope you’ve had a wonderful year and that your video is filled with joyful memories. Mine was lovely and a fun reminder of happy times.

    With so much new content going up I don’t even see why FB wants to keep making old stuff pop up again and again. I guess to make you spend more time there!

      Hi Valent, Good point, some people would prefer not to relive the past. They don’t even have to watch their Year in Review videos on Facebook. Others delight in remembering the events of the past year.

      And you’re absolutely right. Facebook definitely wants us to spend more time there!
