Facebook Friendship Pages
If you’ve ever yearned to see a history of your friendship with someone on Facebook, I have great news for you! Yesterday, Facebook updated its Friendship pages so now you can see your connections with a Facebook friend on a Timeline page.
Let’s say that you want to check your connections with a Facebook friend. Perhaps you want to see all the pictures you and your best friend have been tagged in together. Or perhaps you want to see how often she purchased your prize-winning petal sachets from your Farmville farm. Or maybe you want to find when your ex-fiance posted his marriage proposal on your wall, which is, after all, why he is your ex-fiance. Facebook now makes that easy to find.
To see your Facebook Friendship page with a friend, go to that friend’s Timeline. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page and a drop-down menu will appear.
Click on See Friendship and you will be taken to a Timeline page with your shared posts, Liked pages, Groups, Events and photos. You can see the most recent activity that you have in common in the Overview section.
If you want to see each section individually, go to the left column of the Friendship page and choose from the menu. You can see how many Groups, posts, Events, photos mutual friends and Likes you have in common.
You can also check out interactions between two of your Facebook friends. In the right column of the Friendship page, Facebook will suggest common friends for you to check out their Friendship pages. You can also search for any two Facebook friends and Facebook will show you their Friendship page.
If you’re clearing out your Facebook friends and want a quick way to see whether you are interacting with a person or have common interests, this Friendship page feature can be very handy. This Overview gives you an instant view of whether you are truly connecting with someone on Facebook. If you are, you can take a trip down Memory Lane and relive the history that you two have shared together on Facebook. If you aren’t connecting with each other, perhaps it’s time to initiate the conversation with a post (no, a Poke doesn’t count).
Have you discovered Facebook Friendship pages? Have you checked out any friends on your Friendship pages? Have you reached out to any Facebook friends you hadn’t connected with previously? Have you Poked anyone lately? (Please say No to the last question.) Let us know in the Comments section below!

FedEx Ship to Friends App
Just in time for the holidays, FedEx is making it easier for you to ship packages to your Facebook friends. FedEx just launched their FedEx Ship to Friends Facebook app. With this app, you can fill in the information to generate a FedEx shipping label that you can print out and put on your package. The app has a drop-down menu of your Facebook friends so you can fill out the form easily.
You can share the shipping information with your friend on Facebook and include a customized message. When the package arrives, your friend can post that they have received the package (and presumably thank you for your generosity).
Mayura says
Hi Carolyn,
I love friendship pages. It really narrow down information and makes easy to find ๐ Mostly I use friendship pages to find specific images I wanna view or couldn’t download, and sometimes to check tagged posts of mine which I couldn’t express my gratitude for ’em.
Anyway I do use POKE option, but only to poke my girlie ๐
Cheers…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mayura, It sounds as if you were using Facebook Friendship pages even before the update. That’s great, a lot of people didn’t know about them or didn’t use them. Do you find the new format easier to use?
Lol, Mayura, you go ahead and poke that girlfriend of yours! :-bd
Mayura says
Yeah dear ๐ I was. Well, the update is not effective yet for me. I still have old layout there, though I use timeline on my profile.
Ha ha… Absolutely ๐ Poke is kinda fun but nothing more. No point at all if I had no girlie ๐ Heard rumors Facebook gonna remove it. Let’s see ๐
Cheers…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Sorry about that, Mayura. It may be a slow rollout. Facebook does that sometimes.
I heard Facebook was getting rid of Pokes too but they are still there!
Brankica says
Hey Carolyn,
thanks for sharing this. I remember seeing “see friendship” long time ago in the news feed, mostly between two of my friends and sometimes between me and them, they were probably testing it. But it definitely looked different than what it looks like now.
I just checked one to be able to comment (had to see how it looks) but now I want to go back and click away, not what I had in plan for the evening but what the heck ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Brankica, So great to have you here at The Wonder of Tech! You’re right, Friendship pages existed before but not in the Timeline format so it was more difficult to find this information.
Plus this update adds features such as the ability to search interactions between two of your Facebook friends. The opportunity for a major time suck is huge! ๐
Adrienne says
Well I definitely learned something new today Carolyn about Facebook. I didn’t know they had implemented that yesterday. That’s so cool and I had to run over there while I was reading this and check it out. I’ll be darn, that’s really kind of neat.
That’s also pretty neat about the Fedex app. Great way to get those addresses too! Gosh I can’t believe Christmas is almost here. My how time flies.
Thanks Carolyn, love you sharing this with us.
Adrienne
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, Yes, I thought this Facebook tool was very cool. Often when you hear about Facebook updates people are up in arms, protesting the changes. This is one change that I think almost everyone will embrace.
I thought the FedEx app was cool too, especially before the holidays!
Ileane says
Hi Carolyn, This is neat. I have the feature, but I didn’t even know about it was there until I saw your post. I’m sure it will come in handy because there are a lot of people that I’m “friends” with on Facebook that I might need to un-friend. Thanks for the heads up.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ileane, I’m so glad you have Friendship pages. You’re right, you have an easy way to figure out which friends you have on Facebook that you’re not connecting with. You can either try to connect with them, leave things as they are or trim down your Facebook friends to a manageable level.
Aasma says
Great sharing Carolyn,
Well, I haven’t noticed this change. I’m going to try it out with myself. It’s certainly an interesting feature, which helps you determine what’s common between you and your friends.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Aasma, Yes, it’s fun and also useful to see what you have in common with your Facebook friends. You might have more interactions with people you don’t see in your daily life, even though you don’t feel as close to them. I think people will find this feature very interesting.
Thanks for stopping by, Aasma. Great to see you here at The Wonder of Tech again!
Thomas says
Hi Carolyn
Nice tip. I am still struggling a bit with Facebook and all tips are welcome. I still prefer Twitter over Facebook, but of cause Facebook has some advantage over Twitter. This new friendship button integrated with the timeline is great. I can see that I have not made many new friends on Facebook the last couple of months. I better pay more attention to that for the next couple of weeks. Thanks for sharing these tips Carolyn. See you around ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Thomas, Yes, many Facebook updates result in people protesting that they want the “old Facebook” back. But this update may prove very popular in giving us fun and important information.
I don’t think you’re alone in preferring Twitter to Facebook. People tend to use the social media site that feels more comfortable to you. You do a great job of using Twitter and Tumblr, so don’t fret about Facebook if it doesn’t feel like a good fit for you.
Sylviane Nuccio says
Hi Carolyn,
Thank you for this info about Facebook which I wasn’t aware of, and thanks for the tutorial.
Every time I’m coming to your blog I’m amazed at all the things you can do these day! Thanks to your blog we don’t have to go fetch information that someone like me would never get to know ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sylviane, Thank you very much for your kind words. I do try to let readers know information about tech that will help them in their daily lives. It’s very rewarding to hear when people are helped by what I write.
I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to let me know your thoughts.
Brian D. Meeks says
This is interesting stuff and I like to stay on top of the latest stuff with regards to social media platforms. I’m not sure if I’ll ever look at specific interactions, but it is good to know I could, should the need arise.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Brian, Good point. Some people will view Friendship pages as a research tool that they call upon when they need it. Others will see these pages as a great way to revisit memories of meaningful moments with friends.
Jens P. Berget says
I have never tried this Carolyn, but I can see how powerful the friendship pages can be. I’m going to take a look at it tonight and see how I’ve been in contact with a few of my friends.
On the other hand, I can also see how this can be used to “spy” on your friends, if you can look at the friendship pages of two of your friends ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jens, Excellent point. This update highlights the fact that whatever you post on Facebook should be considered public, even if you restrict the posts to friends. Others are watching what you post.
Friendship pages don’t include Facebook messages so if you want your information to be more private, use Facebook messages instead of posting on Timelines.
Ralph says
Hi Carolyn,
Facebook friendship page, huh? This is new to me. Interesting though. Has anyone gamed this yet on the business side? I wonder if it works the same way when you have a fan page for your business. It might be interesting to see how a company interacts with it’s fans. Probably not applicable.
I wonder how many friendships will be lost by this feature? Hahaha….hey, you haven’t been sharing as much with me as I have been with you! Could prove to be interesting.
Cheers!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ralph, Excellent point. I hadn’t thought about the negative aspects to this feature. You’re right, if people start putting their friendships in the spotlight, they might discover some spots of tarnish that were previously imperceptible. Hmmm… ๐
Hajra says
A friend of mine showed me how this is done and I must agree, it is interesting (and very addictive!)
As for ex-fiance ; why have exes on the FB friend list! ๐
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Hajra, Great point! You’re right, why have exes on the list? Though I know some people who do that. In fact, Facebook has been the catalyst to rejuvenate some relationships.
I could see how this might be a very addictive feature, as if Facebook weren’t addictive enough!
Tim Bonner says
Hey Carolyn
I’ve just had a play around with the Friendship Pages and have to say that’s pretty cool! As Jens mentioned, it does feel a little like I’m spying on people though.
I’m not as active on Facebook as I used to be as I tend to use Twitter and Google+ now but I’ve been getting back into it a little over the weekend.
Thanks for sharing Carolyn.
Tim
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Tim, Yes, you and Jens are quite right. When you see the history of a Facebook relationship between two of your friends, it does feel like spying. Perhaps that’s another good reason to be on your best behavior on Facebook. You never know who is really, really paying attention. :O
Carol Lynn says
That Facebook friend page is kind of cool! It’s like a little mini-timeline with just you and one other person on it. I can imagine some of mine that will be filled with requests for petal sachets ๐
I had not heard of that feature so thanks for filling me in. I have to check it out just for curiosity’s sake and see what I find.
I did hear of the FedEx app and I wonder how successful that will be. I guess personally, my Facebook friends aren’t the ones I’d be overnighting packages to. And if I did need to send a package to someone, whether they were on Facebook or not probably would never occur to me. I’d just fill out a slip. Hm. It will be interesting to see how that works out!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Carol Lynn, Yes, this feature existed before but not many people knew about it and it wasn’t as full-featured as it is now.
You will probably have fun checking out your friends on Facebook and seeing how they have interacted with you and with others!
Praveen Rajarao says
Now this is interesting, i did not know about this new feature about the friendship timeline. I want to try out a few things now, cant wait to get home onto my personal laptop (FB blocked at work).
FedEx app also looks good, yea it is that time of the year again…bells tolling at shopping malls, bright red colors everywhere you see…nice!!!!!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Praveen, Yes, it’s a great time of year for FedEx to launch this app. I use FedEx quite a bit, though not with anyone I’m Facebook friends with. If they were connected to me on Facebook, this would be very handy.
I hope you enjoy checking out your Facebook friendship pages, Praveen!
Manickam Vijayabanu says
Hi Carolyn,
FedEx app is really so nice and interesting. Other than official, most time we communicate and share memorable moments with our friends and relatives and this would be really handy to to get fill out the details from FB. Its so handy to back track the info as well like we get delivery confirmation from USPS. ๐
Als, FB friendship I didn’t notice and looks cool feature. I believe FB offers a handy report or abstract for each friends with many filter options. sounds good.
Thanks for sharing the post.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Manickam, Yes, Facebook Friendship pages aren’t new, but they weren’t well known before. Now that they are updated and more useful, it’s worth checking them out.
The FedEx app may be handy, but I don’t know how many people use FedEx to ship packages to their Facebook friends. If they do, they will find this app quite useful!
Carol MInarcik says
Hello Carolyn, Gee I thought fb had it all. They do keep coming up with new stuff all the time, I love fb. I think the most important thing is when you do add friends, make sure they are really your friends. Thanks for the update as I did not know about this feature.
