If you’re looking to put a twinkle in Dear Old Dad’s eye on Father’s Day, you’re in the right place. Whether or not your father is a techie, you’re bound to discover the perfect gift for him right here. These gifts are fun and functional, delighting Dad for sure. You may even find something for yourself in this gift list!
Romo the Robot
If your father has always wished for a robot and/or is a fan of R2-D2, get him Romo the robot. This robot gets its smarts from an iDevice (iPhone 4/4S or iPod Touch 4th generation), which it uses as its brain. You can control Romo from any iOS device or computer anywhere in the world.
Romo has a personality, showing expressions on its cute face, and can be easily programmed to move forward and backward, swivel, and spin. Use Romo to control your iDevice camera and turn it into a remote monitor. Or just have fun with it.
Here’s a video showing you the magic of Romo:
Romo is available for $149 from the Romo website for shipment later this month. Look forward to a full Wonder of Tech review of Romo after its launch.
Veho Pebble Smartstick Emergency Charger
If your dad’s phone has ever run out of juice at a particularly frustrating time, get him a battery charger. This charger comes with adapters to charge Android, iPhone 4/4S, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Kindle and other mobile devices (though not the iPhone 5 or other iDevices using the Lightning connector). The Veho has enough power to fully charge most smartphone batteries and is lightweight (2.47 ounces/70g) and small (0.87in/22mm wide x 3.39in/86mm long) so your dad can have it ready when he’s on the go.
The Veho Pebble Smartstick Emergency Charger is available from Mobile Fun for $18.99 in black, purple and pink.
Trunk Charger/Stand
If you’re looking for a versatile present for Dad, check out the Trunk charger/stand that’s both a charging cable and a stand. This stiff yet pliable cable can stand straight or bend into position so you can view the screen from any angle while your device is charging. If your father uses his mobile device as a GPS in the car, this cable will come in very handy.
The Trunk comes with either a mini USB (Android, Windows Phone, Kindle, BlackBerry, etc.) or Lightning (iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5th generation) connector on one end and a USB connector on the other. If your father has an iDevice with a Lightning connector, he may be in need of an extra charging cable. Get him the Trunk that doubles as a stand, for less than a the price of a Lightning cable from Apple.
The Trunk is available for $19.95 from iLove Handles.

Let your dad be James Bond in the 21st century with this remote-controlled helicopter. Link this helicopter to your Android or iPhone and control the helicopter and its webcam. See aerial video feed on your phone screen and save images to keep or share with others.

This speaker also acts as a microphone so he can use it for voice controls or as a speakerphone for his smartphone.
Here’s a video showing the Robox speaker in action:
The Robox Bluetooth Speakeris available from Mobile Fun on sale for $25.49.
Snugg iPad Case
Get your father an iPad case that’s a stand and cover with the Snugg. The cover uses magnets to wake your iPad and includes a wrist strap for carrying.
The Snugg case is available in many colors at Amazon for many versions of the iPad and iPad Mini, starting at $29.99.
LG Tone+ Bluetooth Headset
If Dad likes to jam to his tunes, check out this Bluetooth headset that can connect to multiple devices to use with his smartphone, computer and tablet. The headset band is worn around the neck and has earbuds that connect to the band with a cord. The earbuds stay connected to the band with magnets until he’s ready to use them.
When you turn the power on, the headset announces that the power is on and the battery level.
I was sent this headset to test and let my husband, a musician, test them out. He enjoyed listening to his favorite songs using this headset. (Honey, if you’re reading this now, I wasn’t kidding. I really was asking you to test the headset for this article!)
The LG Tone+ Headset is available from Amazon on sale for $55.06.
HandyShell iPad Case from Speck
This versatile iPad case from Speck is a case, stand, handle and wall mount, all in one. Snap this case onto your Dad’s iPad and he can jam on his guitar app, prop his iPad on a flat surface or hang it on the wall for a display.

Harleena Singh says
This is a terrific post for all daughters like me, Carolyn!
I cannot thank my father enough with words for what all he’s done for me, and all the unconditional support he has rendered through out my life. That’s why I’m always on the lookout to gift him something special and there can be no other better gift suggestions than this list in your post.
I find Romo The Robot as cute, and the Smartstick emergency charger and trunk charger as useful utilities. There are other fun and fancy gifts that you mention, but I guess I’d settle for the LG Tone + Bluetooth headset for my father, as it can even read the text messages, which I think would save my father from a lot of efforts and trouble. Definitely, this option from your list will bring a twinkle in my Dad’s eye and certainly will make this Father’s Day memorable for me too.
As always. you have a great list of gifts that I wouldn’t find anywhere else and I admire your efforts to search, pick and choose the best for us. Thanks for these wonderful Father’s Day tech gifts. π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Harleena, Yes, you and your dad are so close, I know you want to get him something special for Father’s Day. The LG Tone+ headset is very cool if your dad needs to access his text messages on the go. Having text messages read to you is very handy.
Thanks for your kind words, Harleena. I hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day with your dad!
Churchill Madyavanhu says
Great list. I will ask for the Robox Bluetooth Speaker. I liked the confusing people part of the description. Sounds like a good idea. π How powerful is it?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Churchill, Happy Father’s Day! Yes, I think it would be very funny to use the Robox Bluetooth Speaker with an iPhone. People would be very confused!
The speaker is 2W. I hope you get your wish, Churchill!
Johan Bengtsson says
Thanks for the tips, the helicopter looks really nice. Might get one for myself π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Johan, I’m so glad you like these gifts! Yes, there are quite a few I’d like for myself too. The helicopter looks very cool. I’ve seen remote controlled helicopters before but I like that this one has the camera that streams video.
Have fun with it!
Frank Cern says
Nice list Carolyn. The helicopter and the Snugg ipad case are quite nice.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Frank, I am so glad you found gifts you like here. There are a lot of fun gifts to choose from! The helicopter is very cool and the Snugg case would be a very functional cover for your iPad.
Pramod says
Some of the above mentioned gadgets are highly innovative and never heard before . The trunk charger is the gadget i would opt for .. This charger would be useful for me as well as my dad !
Best Regards from Pramod
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Pramod, Yes, that Trunk charger is very cool. I like how it can be used as a stand and a charge cable. It’s less than the price of a Lightning cable too.
Adrienne says
Even though my Dad is no longer with us Carolyn, I wanted to stop by and comment anyway. Those are some really fun tech gifts and I’m sure there are plenty of Dad’s out there that would get a kick out of most of them.
I can’t even really see my brother with any of these, he’s less tech then I am if you can imagine. If my Dad were alive he would be in the same boat I’m afraid. We did buy him a computer though years ago so he did know how to work it. He never emailed though, that was more for my Mom.
Cool stuff and I hope everyone has a wonderful Father’s Day! I’ll be thinking of mine.
~Adrienne
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, Yes, I am getting my father a very, very low tech gift this year, but it’s one I think he’ll love. He’s difficult to buy for, so when I found the “perfect gift for him” I snatched it up, even though it isn’t a tech gift.
I know you’ll miss your dad on Father’s Day, Adrienne. I hope you have a happy day whatever you do that day.
Silviu says
Hi Carolyn,
“Pebble Smartstick Emergency Charger” ? Interesting and useful. Wi spy helicopter? Cool!! Snugg iPad case? Elegant. However, what I like most is
Romo the Robot
WOW! It’s so funny! Soooooo funnnny! This would be an extraordinary gift for any kid. Especially for boys. And it seems kids love it.
What’s really impressive is the fact that: you can “program Robo to do what we want him to do without having to know how to program a robot”.
Yes, this is the future and the … present, too.
Awesome post Carolyn. Thank you
Have a nice day
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Silviu, Thanks, I’m so glad you like these gifts. Romo is amazing, you’re right, definitely the future of robotics. Yes, the video shows how easily you can program the robot. This could be fun for anyone, not just dads.
I appreciate you stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us, Silviu!
Mayura says
Hey Carolyn,
Wow… You have very interesting tech gifts here. Bunch of nice choices π
Romo the Robot is very cool! Aha… Shipping is free in US too. My cousin would love to have it for her daughter π
My father runs out of his mobile phone’s battery most of the time and thought about Veho Pebble Smartstick Emergency Charger rightaway, but he’s not having a smartphone though π Gotta check more details or for a similar one right after commenting.
Wi-Spi Helicopter suites for me π lol… Mmm… 7 minute flights on a single charge. That’s very cool as it transmit live footage. Just wondering what’s the maximum Wi-Fi range though. However here we had to gain a license for that kind of stuff, since the civil war which is finished by now.
LG Headset come in handy π As it’s able to read messages, I think that can be definitely helpful to any elder Carolyn. BTW crown goes to your hubby for testing this one π lol…
Well, You have a lovely week there Carolyn π
Cheers…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mayura, that charger comes with all sorts of adapters so it may work with your father’s phone. Be sure to check first though.
I think the Romo Robot is so very cool! I love how they made it easy to program too. For coders such as you, Mayura, you can do even more with the robot.
Happy Father’s Day to your father, Mayura!
Lisa says
Carolyn, I love how you did the images – great for pinning! I love the selection too. I think my father would like the smart stick charger or truck stander. Very interesting choices you offer here. I was just thinking earlier it is a week from this coming weekend. Time is sure flying by us. These would make great birthday gifts too π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Lisa, You’re right, there’s never a bad time for a tech gift! Both of the gifts you like will keep your dad’s devices charged well.
I hope you and your dad have a wonderful Father’s Day, Lisa!
Babanature says
Hello Carolyn,
First, let me say you really did select some good gadget and i truly love them all. But if i’ll chose, a’ll probably choose The Wi-Pi helicopter because it really did caught my attention. seriously, i’d love to buy such gadget or should i say toy! π . Thanks
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Babanature, I read a saying once that the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. π We should have toys not matter what our age, don’t you think?
I’m glad you found something you like in this list, Babanature. Happy Father’s Day!
Charmie says
Hey Carolyn,
I loved the Robox speakers and Lego case cover the most from this collection. I mean each and every gift is and can serve as an awesome gift to any of the dad’s in the world. π But you know I can’t afford every one of them now. π
But indeed an interesting article to read and know. I am looking forward to gift this on my dad’s birthday probably. π
Thanks for such a tech-y share π
Charmie
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Charmie, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, some of these gifts are a bit pricey but they’re fun anyway. You’re right, these gifts would also be good for birthdays or any other time. There’s never a bad day to give a tech gift!
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!
Jason Benway says
The Aquaglide Circuit Course looks sweet but at 13k I won’t be asking for that for fathers day! LOL
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jason, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, the Aquaglide is a bit pricey, but I’m sure you deserve to be spoiled. Happy Father’s Day, Jason!
Carol B says
Ohhhh! Lots of cool stuff, Carolyn! Hard to pick a favorite – but I think I am going to go with the Aquaglide. Can you see that fitting into our pool? lol
But on a more realistic choice – as the Aquaglide just doesn’t fit my budget π – I’m liking that Pebble charger for our pending travels this summer. What do you think?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Carol, you would need a very big pool for the Aquaglide, it’s 42 feet long configured that way. I think you should buy a lake house first, then get the Aquaglide. Your husband would be so pleased!
Yes, having an extra charger when you travel is very handy. I also suggest getting the Trunk as a spare charge cord/stand if you have a compatible mobile device.
Happy Father’s Day, Carol!
jenny says
My dad would really appreciate the lego phone case. He would never admit it, but I am certain he had more fun putting together lego projects than I did when he used to help me when I was a kid.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Lol, Jenny, You’re probably right! I hope you and your dad have a wonderful Father’s Day! π
isko says
I think the android robot speaker are probably the cutest one.. i wish to have one anyways thanks for the ideas…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Isko, Yes, that is a very cute speaker. I hope you enjoy it!

Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Vinoth, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, all of these gifts are great tech, but all are easy to use by anyone. I hope your father enjoys the Robox speaker!

Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Anis, What a wonderful sentiment for your father! I wish you and your father a very happy Father’s Day. π
Manny says
Wow, I am very impressed with the Wi-Spi Helicopter. I can give this to my dad to spy on my sister. She skips class and goes to her friends, and I want to help my dad make sure that this won’t happen again. Good post! Got an idea from this.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Manny, Great idea for using the Wi-Spi helicopter. I had to laugh when I imagined your sister skipping school and looking up to see a toy helicopter following her. π
Matt says
Wow I really hope my kids see this! Jayden, Elijah, if you see this take a closer look at the iPhone helicopter. Get Mommy to the computer and tell her to bring her credit card.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Lol, Matt. I hope you have a wonderful Father’s Day and get the Wi-Spi Helicopter! π
Farrell John Conejos says
Well, I guess these tech gifts are only good for fathers who are into the latest technology nowadays. How about a gift for those who aren’t familiar with the latest technology? Anyway, put aside that perspective, I guess these gifts are not only good for fathers day but for any occasion I guess. What’s important is the thought of giving any father a gift from their love ones.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Farrell, For those dads who aren’t into tech, the Aquaglide is perfect. You don’t have to be a techie to have fun on the Aquaglide!
Happy Father’s Day, Farrell!
Jeremy Norton says
Thanks for giving me an idea on what to give for my hubby this Father’s day. I think I would love to spend on the dream arcade since we are both fond of it and it would be a good bonding time playing with it.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jeremy, Great idea! The best Father’s Day gift is one you can enjoy too!
Have fun with your Dream Arcade. π
piyush001 says

Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Plyush, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Excellent choices. I hope you and your father have a very happy Father’s Day!
piyush001 says
thanx Carolyn i really enjoy here and give me a chance to join your world..
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Thanks so much for stopping by and contributing to the conversation. We’re happy to have you here, Plyush!
Janice says
If money is not an issue, I would definitely get my dad everything tech gifts on this list. He will surely enjoy playing with the RC helicopter. I can hear his belly laugh now.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Janice, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, some of these are a bit pricey, but fun nonetheless. Even if I had the money for the Aquaglide, I don’t have the body of water needed for that gift, nor do I even know anyone who does. But perhaps some Wonder of Tech reader does. Hey, at least we can dream, right?
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts here, Janice!
Emily says
Hi Carolyn,
Father’s Day may be over, but for my sister, she’s still fretting about it because she was not able to give her father-in-law a gift during that time. It’s my first time to see the Romo the Robot, and I think it’s really cool!
I bet my sister will settle for buying a mini iPad or another brand of tablet since her father-in-law does not have one yet.
Speaking of that, do you have any recommendations as to what other tablets (excluding the iPad) are really worth it? I would very much appreciate your thoughts on this, Carol. Thank you!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Emily, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! If I were to get a tablet other than an iPad, I would get a Kindle Fire HD. That tablet has a lot of useful features that makes it worth considering.
Don Evans says
What a great range of Father’s Day Gifts. I like the Robot Bluetooth Speaker, that would appeal to a lot of days and the kids as well!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Don, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! You’re right, that speaker is a winning gift for kids and dads alike!
Eric M says
These are some really great gift ideas…I especially like the LG Tone+ Bluetooth Headset – it reminded me that my dad has been in the market for a set of Bluetooth headphones. I’m not sure if I’ll go with these or another model, but nevertheless, thank you for the reminder! π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Eric, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! I’m so glad you like the headset. I hope you and your father had a happy Father’s Day!
David says
Hi Carolyn!
I’m late for Father’s Day (I am the father), but also apply for a birthday, right?
I think I give away one for my birthday. π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi David, You’re exactly right. There is never a bad time for a tech gift! Happy birthday, David! π
