    Hi Carolyn

Heard about one of the earthquakes on twitter and the latest news about Osama’s death was breaking news on breakfast tv.

Was speaking to a blogging buddy on skype at the time so told them while it was happening!

Hi Patricia, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! Sounds like you have used all kinds of tech to learn about and spread breaking news. I used to think that news websites were thequickest way to find out the news, but with Twitter the news seems instant. It makes you wonder what someone will develop that will be quicker at spreading the news than Twitter.

Someone on Twitter said over the weekend there was a royal wedding, a beatification, and a martyrdom…just like medieval times.

I almost always find out about breaking news on Twitter, but on Monday morning FB was the first thing I checked at 5 a.m. when I got up…it was hard to figure out at first what had happened. Twitter, otoh, has links and more concise info.

Hi Kathy, I like your Twitter quote too. All the news this week seems surreal somehow.

I found out on Twitter too. Often you can’t trust tweets, especially about people’s deaths. Too often have I read RIP (name), only to find out they weren’t dead. But Sunday evening I saw a tweet from CNN, so I believed the news.

I found out thru a notice from the CNN news app on my Iphone. After I read about notifications in your blog, I added them for some apps on my Iphone. I like the notificaitons because I feel like I’m not missing anything.

Hi Elaine, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Push Notifications can be very helpful in alerting you to breaking news. In fact, I think that’s one of the best uses for those alerts! Thanks for sharing this.

    Hi Carolyn,

Usually my Mom will call me and tell me because she’s either watching TV or someplace where everyone seems to find out and start spreading the word. I’m usually working on a project and not constantly on the social media sites so I find out later. I know, I’m so bad!!! But also, I don’t enjoy hearing bad news because there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. So why obsess right!

Interesting poll though. Thanks for doing this.

Hi Adrienne, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! Excellent point, I don’t know why we are compelled to learn of breaking news as soon as possible. Maybe it’s the fear of being the last to know?
