Imagine going to a music festival filled with your favorite artists. How excited would you be to find a music festival designed especially for you?
If you think a personalized music festival would be a thrill, you’ll be happy to learn that can now create an imaginary one. While you (probably) can’t actually attend this music festival, you can create a fun poster featuring your favorite artists.
A website called Instafest can create a custom music festival poster for you based on your musical tastes. You can download your Instafest music festival poster and with others on social media. You may even have seen some Instafest posters on social media and wondered how you could get one too.
Here’s how…
About Instafest
Instafest is a web app that develops a graphic for your ideal music festival, based on your most-listened-to artists. Developed by University of Southern California student Anshay Saboo, Instafest is a fun way to explore your musical tastes and share the results with others.

In a few fun minutes, you can see a lineup of your favorite artists and begin dreaming of how amazing your personal music festival would be.
How to Use Instafest
To get started, go to the Instafest website. Choose the streaming music service you use. Currently, the choices are:
- Spotify
- Apple Music (beta)
- Last.fm
Sign in to your streaming music account. Instafest will create a graphic showing your custom music festival based on your listening history in your streaming music service.
Customizing Your Instafest Poster
If you feel that your Instafest poster doesn’t accurately reflect your current musical tastes, you can adjust the settings. You can choose artists based on your listening from:
- the past four weeks
- the past six months
- all-time
Try each setting to see which poster shows your favorite festival!
You can also change the look of your poster with three different themes:
- Malibu Sunrise
- LA Twilight
- Mojave Desert
The title of the festival will include your streaming service username, but you can hide your username from the poster by checking the Hide my username box.
Your festival results will include a Basic Score showing how much you enjoy niche artists vs. popular artists. Instafest explains:
The Basic Score gives you a rating from 0-100 based on how niche your festival music is! A low score means your festival features more niche artists, while a high score means your festival has mostly popular artists.“
You can include the Basic Score on your festival poster by checking the Show my Basic Score box.
Privacy
If you’re concerned about the privacy implications of giving access to Instafest for your streaming, you may want to check out the Instafest Privacy Policy. Specifically, the policy states:
None of the account data used by Instafest is stored or collected, and it is not shared with any third parties. The information is only used on your personal device to generate your Instafest graphic.“
