Jifiti – A Nifty Gift Giving App

The estimated reading time for this post is 4 minutes

Looking for the perfect gift? Love getting the perfect gift? Here’s a tech tool for you – Jifiti!

Jifiti Gift App

If you’re looking for a gift for that hard-to-buy-for person, you could give a gift card or you could give something much more personal. Jifiti is a service that makes gift-giving easier. Jifiti helps you send gifts across the miles instantly and helps you select thoughtful, meaningful gifts. Jifiti also can help you create your wish list and let others know about your fondest wishes.

Jifiti helps you:

  • give gifts to others instantly
  • get groups to chip in on a gift
  • create and spread the word about your own gift list
  • give gifts to charity

How Jifiti Works

Download the Jifiti app and head to actual brick and mortar retail stores. When you find a gift you like, scan it with your phone to either send it to someone instantly or put the gift on your own wish list. That’s right, you get the fun of shopping in a real store and the instant gratification of sending that gift in a few seconds. If you can’t get to the store, you can shop on your phone.

Jifiti has partnered with major retailers, such as Build-A-Bear, Brookstone, American Eagle, Home Depot and these:

Sample of Jifiti Stores

The app is free and Jifiti doesn’t charge a fee, you pay the price of the gift.

Giving Gifts

To give a gift, head to one of the participating Jifiti stores and find an item you want to give. Scan the bar code of the item, purchase it via the app and send a notification to the receiver instantly via email.

How to use Jifiti

Can’t make it to the store? No worries. Just check out “Trending” gifts on Jifiti to select a gift.

You can also give a group gift with Jifiti. Pick out the gift and invite others to chip in to help buy the gift.

Creating a Gift Wish List

One of the most exciting features of Jifiti, and the feature that helps it work best, is the Wish List feature. Anyone with a Jifiti app on their smartphone can head to a partner store and scan items to be included in a Wish List that can then be shared on social media or via email or text message. You can create a Wish List from multiple stores then share it with others.

Jifiti Gift App

Getting a Jifiti Gift

When you’re given a Jifiti gift, you can head to the store, pick up your gift, hand your phone to the clerk at checkout and walk out with the gift (and a big smile on your face). If the gift wasn’t exactly what you wanted, you can redeem your Jifiti for a different gift. You get what you want and the giver never has to know that you traded for something different.

Jifiti App Gift Ideas

Giving to Charity

Jifiti lets you give to charity directly. Right now Jifiti’s charity partner is the Ronald McDonald House in Ohio but it plans to expand to other charities in the future.

Who Should Use Jifiti

Brides and Grooms – Create a wedding registry list with gifts from multiple stores such as William Sonoma, Sur la Table, Pottery Barn, and Crate & Barrel.

Dads – Fathers can be a wee bit difficult when it comes to finding the perfect gift. Let Dad share his ideal gift list with you using Jifiti. He might like gifts from Home Depot, Brookstone, Barnes & Noble, Sunglass Hut, Sears, or Lids.

Grads – Not sure what to get the graduate or where you should send the gift? Use Jifiti at stores such as Pottery Barn, Sears, Aeropostale, Home Depot, Banana Republic or Crate & Barrel.

Kids – Let your kids create a wish list for their birthdays to share with friends and family from stores such as Toys R Us, Game Stop, Build-a-Bear, Gap, Old Navy, or American Eagle.

Availability

Jifiti is available as a free app for:

iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
Android devices

The service is US only. You can find out more at the Jifiti website.

What a niftly gift app! Can’t wait to try it out. But, I’ve already gotten a Father’s Day gift so it will have to wait until the next round. Or, I could just go shopping for myself – I love getting gifts too.
Thanks for letting us know about this cool app.

Hi Carol, Yes, a very fun part of this app is building your own wish list. Have you ever gone gift shopping for someone else and ended up buying something for yourself? Well this app lends itself to that tendency. 😉

I have two wedding gifts to purchase this summer and I would love it if the newlyweds would use Jifiti so I could get them gifts they wanted from a variety of stores!

    Hi Carolyn,

This surely does sound like a wonderful app 🙂

However, like most of the others, it’s just available for the US, but I can see how people are surely going to be loving it nevertheless. Good reminder for me to gather something up for my Dad too, with Father’s Day just round the corner, and for my daughters for their Dad.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

Hi Harleena, Yes, I try not to cover US only tech very often but every once in a while I come across great tech that I want to share even though it isn’t available to all of my readers. Perhaps someone in your country will be inspired by Jifiti to bring the concept there!

Yes, dads are difficult to buy for so the more advantages you have the better. I hope you and your dad have a wonderful Father’s Day, Harleena!

Now that’s so cool Carolyn, I love that idea. I definitely will be getting this app. I might not be a big shopper but when I see something I want then that’s always a good thing because that doesn’t happen often. lol… Would probably help my family to when it comes to shopping for me.

Love this idea and thanks for sharing it. Woo hoo!!!

Hi Adrienne, Yes, for those who are difficult to buy for, this app is great. You will be saving your family and friends a lot of time and stress by making up a wish list and sharing it with them. I love that it’s free too!

      Enjoy your Jifiti app, Adrienne!

Hi Pramod, Excellent point. I love the wish list feature too! Who wouldn’t want the joy of creating a gift list from all of these marvelous stores!

I hope someone in India is inspired to create a similar service or that Jifiti arrives on your shores soon, Pramod! 🙂

This is a very interesting app, and I think it will do well because not only is it feature-packed, but it is also free to use. I do like the physical aspect of the app – that you can go to a physical store to select a gift and the the recipient can pick it up at one. Makes it far more personal than a basic gift card. The wishlist function is also something I will encourage my siblings to use, since they are nearly impossible to shop for.

    • Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

      June 11, 2013 at 2:38 pm

Hi Jenny, You’re exactly right, this seems much more personal than a gift card because the gift seems thoughtful, but can be sent in an instant.

I can think of quite a few people I would love to get using this app. Some people are difficult to buy for and when you ask them, they can’t seem to come up with any ideas for what they want!

I hope you and your siblings enjoy Jifiti, Jenny!

    Hi Carolyn,

Am I the only one who thinks there is an error in your “Who Should Use Giftly” subtitle. I’ve been editing today, so I’m still alert. I don;t think this idea would work in the UK, but i’ve seen similar things. The advert wouldn’t work on me!

I have some interesting pictures for you today! I have a guest blog tomorrow too!

    • Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

      June 11, 2013 at 2:40 pm

Mike, You are my best editor! The developer even wrote me asking for a correction because I misspelled the name of the app at the very end as “Jiffity”. You seriously should do freelance proofreading work, you are great at catching errors!

I will be over to your site soon. Your Neodigital Art posts are a highlight of my week!

Really great idea for an app…love the convenience of it. As some of the other commenters have mentioned, I can’t get it where I am but kudos to the developers here. They did a good job.

Thanks, Frank. I agree, the developers did a great job on the app. Their website and video are very cool too!

Hi QuynhLan, Great point, being able to build a gift list from many stores is very handy. You’re right, it saves time for both the giver and receiver.

Hi Carolyn, Jifiti sounds to be a real cool app. I wonder the concept is so good, without you doing any leg work, you browse, click and send notification, ultimately the gift gets sent to the right person. This is really good, thanks for sharing it with us.

    • Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

      June 12, 2013 at 11:02 am

Hi Karlon, I am so pleased you like Jifiti. You’re right, it would be a lot of fun to get a Jifiti gift and head to the store to pick it up. I hope someone sends you a Jifiti gift soon! 🙂

This is another interesting gift-giving idea especially for busy people like me. A good way also to send some hint to your loved ones on what you want to receive.

    • Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

      June 12, 2013 at 11:03 am

Hi Jeremy, You’re exactly right, this app covers both bases, making it easy to give gifts and increasing your chances of receiving a gift you’d like!

  11. Silviu says

    June 13, 2013 at 4:35 am

    Hi Carolyn,

This is very new and interesting. I would like to know something:

    a. It seems that you can buy a gift and send the alert (online) to a friend or relative of yours and that person can simply go to a Jifiti store (in their town/city) and get the gift (as soon as he or she gets the alert). Is this true?
    b. “I don’t understand what “get groups to chip in on a gift” means. What’s the meaning of the word “chip in” here?

If this is true and you can buy a gift in a town and somebody else will receive it in another town, this would be extraordinary. It can eliminate the travel expenses for a firm almost entirely. Also, you get rid of a lot of annoying things and time wasted to send your gift “classically”.
    Did I get it right?

    • Carolyn Nicander Mohr says

      June 15, 2013 at 8:59 am

      Hi Silviu, Great questions!

      a) Yes, that’s true except Jifiti itself doesn’t have stores. Jifiti partners with stores so the receiver can go into their local store to pick up the gift that was sent using Jifiti.

      b) Sorry about that. I try very hard to stay away from using confusing tech terms, but I should also stay away from using confusing terms in everyday language. “Chipping in” means contributing to a gift. Let’s say you and a group of friends wanted to pool your money to get an expensive gift for a bride and groom. You could get a group gift using Jifiti and have many people contribute money to pay for the gift using the app.

You’re exactly right, Jifiti saves a lot of time and hassle by allowing you to send a personal gift easily and immediately.

I hope I answered your questions, Silviu. Thanks for your insightful comment!
