How many accounts do you have scattered around the Internet? Dozens? Hundreds? If you’re not using those accounts then they’re not doing you any good. You may want to delete them, to help keep your personal information well, personal.
Justdelete.meΒ is a new website directory and the brainchild of Robb Lewis, a British developer, who has done the hard work of figuring out how to delete accounts from many major websites. His tech tool will help make cleaning your accounts faster and much easier than trying to do it yourself.
How Justdelete.me Works
The directory doesn’t have a record of all the websites where you have an account.
Ew. That would be creepy.
Instead, justdelete.me has handy links to major websites where you may have accounts. Chances are you don’t have accounts at all the websites listed there. If you do, well, you’ve been very, very busy on the Internet.
You can use justdelete.me to delete your accounts from websites such as Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, Google, eBay and many more. Justdelete.me makes it easier to delete your accounts by providing you with website links directly to the page where you can delete your account.
Head to the justdelete.me website to see the grid of sites, click on a link and you will be taken directly to the page on the website where you can delete your account.
The links are color-coded based upon the difficulty you’ll have deleting your account. The rankings include:
- Green – easy
- Yellow – medium
- Red – hard
- Black – impossible
That’s right, in some cases you will not be able to delete your account no matter how hard you try. According to justdeleteme.com, you cannot delete your account from websites such as Evernote, Pinterest, Netflix and others, though you can deactivate your account at those sites.
Justdelete.me provides additional information about deleting your accounts from the listed websites, such as whether you need to call customer service to delete your account.
Forewarned Is Forearmed
If learning that you can’t close some online accounts causes you concern, you’re not alone. Who knew that opening an account at a website was a lifelong commitment?
If you’d like to know the difficulty of closing an account before you open it, then you’ll probably be a fan of the justdelete.me Chrome extension. Adding this extension to your Chrome browser will help you identify how easy an account will be to close.
When you arrive at a website covered by justdelete.me, the Chrome extension will display a colored dot in the address bar showing how easily you can delete an account.
Then you can be the judge to decide whether you want to create an account.

Justdelete.me is a brand-spanking new website that has been immediately popular (See, Robb Lewis: 24 Hours of Just Delete Me). Although the website just launched last week, Lewis has already added even more sites to his directory since its inception.

Wow, such a short time and already so popular. Looks like a great idea and something that really was needed π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Johan, Yes, the popularity of this site shows there was definitely a need for this type of directory. Lewis has done a great job with his new site.
Pramod says
The idea is interesting . All the links to delete accounts are there on a single page .. We can bookmark the page and visit it anytime to delete an account we don’t want to use .This saves time as we don’t have to search the delete/disable account option .1 million page in just a short span of time is awesome . Thanks for sharing this utility with us Carolyn !

Hi Pramod, Great idea to bookmark this page. You never know when you might need it later when you decide to close an account.
I am glad that this site has been instantly successful. I hope that Lewis continues to grow this directory with links to many more websites.
Silviu says
Hi Carolyn,
I have so many accounts on the internet. My problem is how to find them. At least one hundred accounts are lost because I don’t know where they are. Even worse, some of them are not on my name but on a nickname so they are even harder to find.
Yes, I think it is a good idea to delete old accounts you are not using anymore. I heard they can be found and hacked and then you’ll get into trouble.
Impossible? Unfortunately, yes. There are accounts that cannot be deleted. Like, for example, my Pinterest account. It is deactivated but not dead. It is a kind of zombie but it can be brought back to life, I suppose.
Have a nice day
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Lol, Silviu, I can just picture your Pinterest account being a Zombie.
Are your old accounts tied to your email address? Often you can retrieve accounts if you enter your email address, even if you forget your user name.
You’re right, any information you have on the Internet is susceptible to hacking so closing accounts, when you can, is advisable.

Wow, this is awesome π
Just shows how many unused ideas are still out there (why didn’t anyone invent this tool earlier?).
I will take a look; I have been wanting to get rid of some of my accounts, this is the chance π
It is creepy that you can’t delete some of your online account (never knew about Evernote; I use it for most of my experiments and brain storming activities).
Thanks for sharing the tool and the chrome extension (just when I thought the tool couldn’t get any better :D), Carolyn!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jeevan, In a way, being able to keep your account forever gives a bit of comfort. If I ever had my Evernote account canceled, I would be lost! But it does seem to take control away from the user.
I hope you have an easy time canceling your accounts, Jeevan!
Jeevan Jacob John says
Same here. I use Evernote for scheduling, tracking my experiments and diary writing. I can survive without it, but it wouldn’t be pretty to lose all the data that I collected/wrote.
Thanks π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Yes, I found it reassuring that it was impossible to delete an Evernote account so that my notes would be preserved unless I actively delete them.
You’re making great use of Evernote, Jeevan!
Adrienne says
Now that’s pretty cool Carolyn but I use LastPass so I have all my log-in details in that program so I can go through that and find all the sites that I’ve signed for but never used. It will tell you when the last time you logged into it so that site’s real handy for finding which ones I need to delete.
Having a site that’s a click of the button is even better though so I think I’ll go check out this handy little tool.
Thanks so much for the introduction.
~Adrienne
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, what a great idea to cross check with LastPass to see which accounts you haven’t used in a while. You’re exactly right, having this directory that takes you right to the cancel account page is very handy!
Pankaj says
Certainly a great concept used by “Robb Lewis”, and after reading it I have new idea I hope someone would work on it. π .
I would suggest there should be a system which search all your online accounts attached with your entered or submitted email ids. This way you can even find your account which you actually don’t remember or forget.
Then you can use “JustDelete” to remove your unnecessary accounts.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Pankaj, interesting idea, though I am hoping that information isn’t publicly available because that would be way too tempting for hackers. Imagine, all you would have to know is someone’s email address in order to search for all sites where they have an account. Scary stuff!
Susan Neal says
Hi Carolyn – it’s great to know that a service like this is now available. As you say, it can be difficult to extricate yourself from some online accounts and you don’t realise that when you sign on the dotted line.
Thanks for a great share π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sue, You’re right, this is very handy not just for deleting your accounts but also to avoid getting into a lifelong commitment unexpectedly.
Raj Kumar says
Never knew about just delete previously . Will surely give it a shot in near future . π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Raj, Yes, it’s a handy way to delete your accounts and discover which accounts are easy to delete.
Harman says
Oh thank god,
Finally got to know an easy way to clean up the mess that was created on social media by creating different profiles. Thanks man, you help me add up to my knowledge.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Harman, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! I’m so glad you found this helpful. You’re right, we may be eager to sign up for social media networks in the beginning but if we’re not active on them then we should delete our accounts.
Mahendra says
I have a another question, There are any way to find out that HOW MANY ACCOUNT GENERATE BY A GMAIL. I wanna Know how many accounts created by my mail, I wanna delete but I don’t know how many i have ?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mahendra, I suggest that you search your Gmail for registrations at different accounts. I don’t know of a way to search for accounts via email. That wouldn’t be good for security reasons. Once someone knows your email address at a website, then all they need to do is try to crack the password.
Ravi Verma says
This is certainly a nice guide about the erasing your self from the e world. You have simply taught a good lesson in the post.
Thanks for guiding about Justdeleteme. I was wondering how to use it.
Regards
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ravi, Yes, the site is really simple to use. You can make the most of this site by clicking on the links to delete the accounts you don’t want to have any more.
Nanda Rahmanius says
I just found out about this justdelete.com. I never thought there would be a site that can be used to remove unnecessary accounts. What a practical site!
Thanks for the information π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Nanda, Yes, this site is very handy to give you quick access to pages where you can delete your accounts.
Enjoy!
Nanda Rahmanius says
I’ve tried it, I want to eliminate my curiosity, since I know about this site π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
How did it go, Nanda?
Nanda Rahmanius says
Yes, I tried to delete an account from one of the sites. In my opinion, quite easy and simple. I love it :-bd
I would use it again if I want to disappear from the internet: :))
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Nanda, I’m so glad you found this easy to do. It’s great to erase our tracks from across the Internet. Yes, sometimes you want to disappear. Just so long as you don’t disappear from The Wonder of Tech, Nanda! π
Mayura says
Hi Carolyn,
This is just awesome! π
A year ago, I used to have so many online accounts and later on I deleted / deactivated all the accounts I don’t use anymore. Yet few of ’em are active which didn’t allow deleting accounts. I mean, even after reaching out their support. I just feel weird when I see ’em on Google search results.
Further, I had hard time finding how to deactivate some accounts too. Now, with the help of justdelete.me, it’s way too easy π I like that.
Anyway, the best thing is the Chrome extension π As I was stuck with account deletion at some points, I always wanted to know if I can get rid of an account before I sign up. Just installed the extension and love how it works π Very simple! Not even wanna pocket or bookmark the page π
Thanks for this handy resource Carolyn π
You have a wonderful week there π
Cheers…
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mayura, I’m so glad this was helpful to you! You have helped me so much that it does my heart good to introduce you to these tools to help you manage your online accounts.
You’re right, learning about your commitment is important even before you sign up for an account. If you know that the account will be easy to delete then you’re probably more likely to sign up for it.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts with us here, Mayura!

Privacy is a major concern for everyone at the moment, especially online privacy. It seems to me that the makers of this app have tapped into this very real need and are providing a really great service here. Thanks for the heads up Carolyn. One more thing, I was not aware that you couldn’t delete your PInterest account…what info is PInterest interested in keeping about me?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Frank, Great question. I don’t know why Pinterest won’t let you delete your account, but that would be great to know before you join. Who knew joining Pinterest was until death do you part?
