The Quickest Way to Share Your Location Using Your iPhone
There are many options to share your location with a friend, but one way is especially expeditious…
When you want to share your location with a friend, you don’t want to mess around with a bunch of steps. With Quick Action, you can share your location using your iPhone in just a few steps.
Quick Action is a shortcut tool that works with Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze so you can share your location quickly from any of these apps.
From the Home screen on your iPhone, press the icon of your favorite maps app.
=> Be careful not to press and hold, that will make the app icons jiggle to rearrange/delete them.
A menu will appear. Tap Send My Location:
Send My Location Apple Maps
Send My Location Google Maps
Send My Location Waze
When you tap Send My Location, the sharing menu will appear. Choose the person you’d like to share your location with and how you’d like to send your current location. You may want to use the Messages app for the quickest delivery.
The Messages app will open with a draft message, including a map that pinpoints your current location on the map.
Tap the Send button to share your location with a friend.

Another Easy Way to Share Your Location
Using Quick Action is the quickest way to share your current location. But if you’re on the move and want your friend to be able to follow your location, you can use another easy way to share your location.
For example, if you’re on your way to a friend’s home but are stuck in traffic, you can share your location so she can follow your progress. Or if you’re picking someone up from the airport, you can send him your location so he knows where to meet you when you arrive.
Sharing your changing location is easy and you have options for how long you share your location.
To share your location with a friend, open the Messages app on your iPhone, then open a text message from your friend. Tap on their name at the top of the screen.
On the next screen, tap Share My Location.
A menu will open with three options:
- Share for One Hour
- Share Until the End of the Day
- Share Indefinitely
Tap on one of the options and your location will be shared with your friend for the time period you choose. Note that, unlike the method for sending your location discussed above, your location will be shared instantly with your friend.
To cancel sharing your location, tap Stop Sharing My Location on that screen.
