Noizi App – Emojis with a Giggle (Literally)

The estimated reading time for this post is 3 minutes

If a picture says a thousand words, how many words does a sound say? I guess it depends on the sound…

Noizi is a brand new app that turns emojis into sounds. Using Noizi you can send sounds to friends in your text messages. Why just use images and GIFs? Send sounds so you can shout it loud, sing your praises and give a giggle.
Noizi App

Availibility

The app launched last week in the iTunes App Store and is available for iPhone and iPad for $0.99.

The app comes with 240 emoji sound icons with more available to download for free. Additional emoji sound icons are available as in-app purchases.

About Noizi

Noizi is a keyboard app with emojis that play sounds. You can send these emoji sounds to friends in text messages.

The app has emoji sounds in 10 categories:

  • Human
  • Lifestyle
  • Machine
  • Instrument
  • Nature
  • Animal
  • Gross
  • Scary
  • Seasonal
  • Holiday

Some of the noises are obvious from the image but others leave you guessing. Be sure to listen to a Noizi before you send it to avoid any unintended messages.

The sounds only play when the emojis are tapped. Unlike GIFs, Noizi sounds don’t auto-play, but you still may want to let your friend know about Noizi emojis the first time you send one. Many of the noises are funny, but some could be embarrassing in the wrong situations, if you know what I mean.

Using Noizi

Setting Up the App

After you download the app, you need to enable the keyboard. Go to:
Settings => General => Keyboard => Keyboards => Add New Keyboard => Noizi => Full Access. Click OK.

Adding a Noizi Sound Emoji to Your Text Messages

When you want to add a Noizi emoji sound to your text messages, you don’t need to open the Noizi app. Instead, tap the globe icon on your keyboard(s) until the Noizi keyboard appears. It looks like this (I added the words “Noizi Keyboard” to the image):

Noizi Emoji Sound Keyboard

Then tap the smiley face icon to the left of the space bar on the Noizi keyboard. You’ll see the emoji sounds divided into categories. After you’ve used the app, your frequently used emojis will appear on the left.

Noizi Emoji Choices

Tap on an emoji to hear the sound. When you find one you want to send, tap again in the text area to paste it. Tap Paste and the emoji will appear in your text message.

Pasting Noizi Emojis

No worries if you get confused. The app includes a video showing you how to use it.

What Else You Need to Know

Be sure to have the volume turned up on your phone to listen to the emoji before you use it. If the volume is too low, you may not be able to hear the Noizi sound and you won’t know what sound you’re sending.

Noizi emojis appear and can be played in the Messages app on Mac computer, though they can’t be sent from a Mac.

You can’t search for emojis on the Noizi app, though you can use the categories to find them.

Be prepared to giggle. If you’re in a situation where giggling would be inappropriate, best to wait before using Noizi. If you’re in a situation where giggling would be a good thing, give Noizi a go.

The launch of Noizi just missed World Emoji Day, but we can still celebrate!

    Hey Carolyn,

When you have an iPhone or iPad then there are few apps to install as compared to an Andriod phone. It’s good to know about such apps.

Nowadays, people are using emojis a lot in their conversation. I am sure they would love to have this app.

    Thanks for sharing.
    Have a great day.

Hi Ravi, Yes, this app just launched and is only available on iPhone and iPad so far. I will check with the developer to see whether it will be coming to Android.

Yes, emojis are very popular and this idea for sound emojis is sure to please many people.

      Hi Ravi,

We are glad to hear you like the idea! Yes we would love to get the app out for Android as well soon!

Noizis can be sent to someone with an Android and they can hear them, however, in most cases they can not see the icon. In addition, they wont be able to download the keyboard and be able to send them until released for Android.

      Hope this helps!

Even my little 4-year old grand daughter knows what emojis are and always wants to look at them. I’ll have to check this out and have fun with it!

Thanks. Love how you always find these hidden treasure nuggets:)

Hi Lois, Your granddaughter will really enjoy a lot of the Noizi emoji sounds. They’re fun and cute!

I would caution that some of the sounds are PG-rated so best not to let her play with the emojis.

I hope you and your granddaughter enjoy the app, Lois!
