Hmmm…got nothing as yet Carolyn!
But the amount of information recently shared here about the iPad is sure good enough to look out for a new one if need be π
Looking forward to the review about it tomorrow π
Enjoy your weekend π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Harleena, Thanks for participating in the poll! You have a great weekend too! π
Mike Maynard says
Hi Carolyn,
They’re not queuing in the UK; but it has some interest. Apple have more staff in the store I went in to promote it too. They seem to be getting better as the technology develops. They need to get cheaper now which I think they will when Apple has some competition.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mike, That’s good that there were no lines in the UK. I bought my first iPhone in the UK and the lines weren’t nearly as bad as in the US. I don’t know if the stores are better staffed there or the interest isn’t as high.
Previous models of iPads aren’t as expensive, Mike. With each new model, the previous models get a lower price. π
karan says
looking forward to your review of the new iPad. Lucky you that you got this so early. For me I’m still confused. I am not a big fan of tablets anyway:D
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Karan, I can understand your confusion. I think it’s not a clear choice whether someone would choose the iPad 2 or the new iPad. I hope that my review helps you focus on the factors you should be considering when you make your decision. π
Adrienne says
I guess if you’re more into technology then I am then I might be able to understand why everyone goes nuts for the latest and greatest. But I’ve never been that person either Carolyn. I’m always very content with what I have and I don’t have to run and get the most recent version even if it does have more bells and whistles.
Will look forward to your review though. So does that mean you went out and bought one?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrienne, My husband bought me one for my birthday. I pre-ordered the model I wanted so it was delivered to my home.
Being content with what you have is one of the most admirable traits a person can have, Adrienne. π
David says
I am still reading and watching reviews about the new iPad before deciding if I will buy or not.
Janet Callaway says
Carolyn, aloha. Well, I don’t have an new iPad nor is it on order. When Kina said she didn’t want one to play games, I thought “why bother?”
So, did you stand in line or pre-order?
Look forward to reading your review tomorrow. Until then, aloha. Janet
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Janet, I pre-ordered the iPad. Standing in line is actually a lot of fun (I’ve done it twice), but I didn’t have the time to do it on Friday plus there is the risk that you don’t get the model you want. I tend to be picky about which model I want. π
Janet Callaway says
Carolyn, aloha. Though I quickly scanned through your Archives, an appropriate title for the post I want did not jump out at me. Some time last year you wrote a post comparing the different Kindles.
Because a friend of mine is getting a Kindle, I wanted to let her read it so she could decide between the $99 Kindle and the $199 Kindle. Would you please drop the link in your response so I can set her the post? Thanks so much. Aloha. Janet
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Janet, The article you are referring to is Four Hot New Kindles β Which Is Best For You? https://wonderoftech.com/four-hot-new-kindles-which-is-best-for-you/ Thanks so much for sharing it!
Jens P. Berget says
I’m still waiting for it to reach the stores in Norway, but first, I’m looking forward to read your review. From what I’ve seen so far, it looks awesome. But, if I really need it, that’s a different story. I’m so happy with my iPad2, and I don’t think that I’ll be using the new one more than I use the one I already have, and I don’t think I’ll be using it for different things eitherβ¦ but the new display looks very nice from what I’ve seen online π
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jens, I hope you enjoy my review. I had you in mind when I wrote it. I think the decision to buy a new iPad is very personal and I set forth the factors to be considered when making your decision. Let me know what you think! π
Bill Dorman says
Absolutely, yes it is; where can I win one?
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Bill, Sure, I’ve gotten a bunch of offers/spam on Twitter with iPad contests!
But I know Dragon Blogger is planning a new iPad contest soon. I will let you know when it starts. π
Ashvini says
Hi Carolyn,
I was not never much of fan of ipad( you know it π ) but I do like Mac computers( I use them to record music) . I don’t know when they will launch the new ipad in India so that I can have a look . Till then I am staying with my Android tabs ( that is what I voted above π ).
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ashvini, From what you told me and what I’ve seen about the iTunes Store in India, I can understand why you’re not a fan of the iPad. Honestly, apps are a key reason to buy an iPad so without wide-ranging app availability, you would be hard-pressed to justify an iPad purchase.
I’m hoping Apple beefs up its Indian iTunes Store soon! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Ashvini. π
Sonia says
I haven’t owned one yet and not sure if I ever will at those prices. I have a laptop and don’t feel the need to go out and buy something that looks like another computer. Don’t get me wrong I love Apple products, this coming from a Blackberry Fan (no longer) and thinks I have too many gadgets as it is. My cousin lucked out and got one fully loaded and like new from a co-worker for $150 because he wanted to dump another 800 on the new one. I don’t get that, but whatever.
Now! If someone was to buy it for me, then the iPad and myself would make best friends. Until then it will sit in the store for me to admire.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sonia, You’re right, iPads are expensive. But in the US you can get a new iPad 2 for $399, so people don’t have to pay $800 to get one.
It’s difficult to understand why you would want one or how you would use it but once you have one, it’s easier to understand. Let’s just say that every time I leave the house without my iPad (which doesn’t happen often), I regret it.
But everyone’s needs are different. If you are experiencing gadget overload, then you shouldn’t get another one. Unless, of course, someone buys it for you! π
Nichole says
Hello Carolyn.
As for me, I’m not so sure at buying a new iPad. Even the old model I don’t have one. It’s just that I’m contented with my Mac and it’s been with me for a couple of years.
I guess it’s pretty fine for those people who really love the new gadgets for whatever purpose it may serve them. For some, practicality is important.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Nichole, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! I agree, if you don’t need the convenience of an iPad, don’t get one. But for some, myself included, the iPad is practical. My iPad is a great solution to mobile computing as I am on the go throughout the day. The “instant on” feature is great when I just have a few minutes to get something done. The apps I find more useful than searching for information on my computer. One quick look at Zite and I know what the latest tech news is from a variety of sources. The moving radar map on Weather Bug shows me instantly what’s headed my way.
The iPad isn’t for everyone, but it’s a useful tool for many people.
Thank you very much for your visit and comment, Nichole!
Sonia says
Oh no Carolyn, I never had one. I SO WISH, but I didn’t know they were that cheap for an iPad 2. Now that is my kind of price. Thank you so much for letting me know.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Sonia, Yes, when you learn that they’re half the price that you thought they were, iPads become much more desirable, don’t they? π
