You may think of Redbox as the DVD rental service with over 41,000 kiosks at many of your favorite stores. But Redbox broadened its horizons this past week with the launch of Redbox Free Live TV, offering a variety of streaming videos you can watch on your phone, tablet, TV, and computer.
What Is Redbox Free Live TV
Rebox Free Live TV is an ad-supported video service you can watch almost anywhere you have a screen and an Internet connection. No subscription or registration is needed. Just open the app or visit the website and start watching.
Galen Smith, Redbox CEO, explained, “The expansion of Redbox into live streaming television builds on the company’s commitment to being the go-to entertainment destination for consumers wanting choice and amazing value. With Free Live TV, we’re now offering an unparalleled level of content choice through our kiosks, on-demand and now free streaming. We know what consumers want to watch and Free Live TV expands the ability to reach consumers and tap into the growing OTT market.”
Redbox Free Live TV launches with nearly 30 channels that show movies and shows, including content from Lionsgate as well as Redbox content channels. Redbox plans to add an additional 10 channels to the service each month.
Categories of channels include News, Kids, Movies and:
Featured – with shows such as America’s Funniest Videos and Food52.
TV – with shows such as Forensic Files, Family Feud Best of Steve Harvey, and Got Talent Global.
Entertainment – with shows such as Pet Collective and People Are Awesome.
From Redbox, other channels include:
- Redbox Rush: For fans who love action & adventure. The channel delivers movies and television series that keep audiences on the edge of their seat.
- Redbox Comedy: For fans who love hilarious movies & great stand-up. Whether you’re looking for something new or a nostalgic favorite, Redbox Comedy delivers the laughs audiences crave.
- Redbox Spotlight: Redbox’s curated channel of featured & recommended titles. No more searching for what to watch, Redbox has their best content all in one place to make picking something to watch both quick and easy.

How to Watch Redbox Free Live TV
Redbox Free Live TV is available to watch:
- on your mobile devices using the Redbox app for Android or the Redbox app for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV
- on your computer at the Redbox Free Live TV website,
- on your Roku, VIZIO SmartCast TV, and LG Smart TV.
No need to log in, register, or subscribe to the service. Just choose “Free Live TV,” select a channel and start watching for free.
Redbox Free Live TV is available throughout the United States, but only in the United States. The company has not announced plans to expand to other countries at this time.
