RunPee: Your Must-Have Movie Companion!

The estimated reading time for this post is 3 minutes

Are you headed to the movies to see the latest blockbuster release? Are you going to get a jumbo sized popcorn and soda combo to enjoy during the feature presentation? Are you certain to regret your decision to supersize your combo when you are squirming half way through the movie because you need to use the rest room?

RunPee AppIf this scenario seems all too familiar, then you need to grab the RunPee app, free from the iTunes App Store! (Note that the app has been pulled from the Android Market pending an update, but you can go to m.runpee.com from your smartphone in the meantime.) RunPee also has a website, www.runpee.com that you can check out before leaving home if you don’t have a smartphone.

Whenever I go to a movie in the movie theater (or a film in the cinema when I was in the UK), I check out the movie on RunPee. RunPee tells you exactly when is a good time to leave to go to the rest room or get a refill of your tub of popcorn so you don’t miss any important scenes.

Not only does RunPee tell you when to use the facilities, RunPee lets you know how much time you have to “take care of business” and even has a timer so you can be mindful of getting back to your seat just in time for the next big event on the big screen!

Wondering what you’ll be missing when you’re gone from your seat? No problem, RunPee has you covered. RunPee gives you the full summary of the scenes you will miss while you are gone so you won’t be confused about the plot when you return.

Another truly great feature of RunPee is that it tells you whether there are additional scenes after the movie credits are over. Some people stick around to the bitter end of the credits only to discover that there are no extra scenes. Other people leave before the credits are over and miss some amazing scenes (Fast Five). RunPee will let you know whether you should stick around for any extra scenes or not!

Fast Five

For example, in Kung Fu Panda 2, RunPee informs you that you can take a break three different times during the movie. There are cues such as: @ 59 minutes for 4 minutes when “Stu body checks Alan into the street after finding out about the marshmallows.” Kind of makes you want to see the movie, doesn’t it?

Kung Fu Panda 2

Not sure which movie to see? RunPee even has trailers you can watch to help you decide!

Another great feature of RunPee is that it has this information for older movies too, not just new releases. Want to invite a bunch of friends over to watch Titanic at your house? Want to be a great host but don’t want to miss any important scenes when you refill your guests’ drinks? No need to pause the movie. Check RunPee to see when would be a good time to get up from your chair. (Hint: RunPee suggests taking a break @ 56 minutes for 4 minutes when Molly Brown says, “You shine up like a new penny.”)

Titanic Movie

The RunPee app also works on the iPod Touch and iPad and can save the information for later when you are without a Wi-Fi connection. When you are connected to Wi-Fi, open the app and select the movie you want to see. The app will save the information on your iPod Touch or iPad so you can have the information with you even when you at the theater and aren’t connected to the Internet.

Bottom Line

If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you should definitely grab this free app from the iTunes App Store. If you have a different kind of smartphone, bookmark m.runpee.com. If you don’t have a smartphone, make sure to check out www.runpee.com the next time you head out to the movies!

I never go to the cinema mainly because my local one is in a strange place; the sort of place you would get mugged late at night. I want to watch a new film though and one that is coming out later this year. This website could be handy. I want to see Sleeping Beauty, a new Australian film. There is a British film ‘The Hot Potato’; I think that could be funny and I also have money invested in it! That is being edited, they decided it was a little too long. I shall have to make an effort and maybe go in the afternoon; less chance of getting mugged.

That is another problem I could cover in a blog; bladder control… ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Mike, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! That’s a shame that you can’t go to your local cinema, especially because they seem to show very interesting films. Perhaps you should try a matinee on a weekend. I will have to keep an eye out for those two films, especially Hot Potato since you are an investor!

One of the things I loved about England was the amazing British films that I got to see over there that don’t seem to make it to the US.

Thanks for your visit and your comment!

    Hi Carolyn,

This is funny. I have just written a blog post about peeing, and now I’m here and you’ve written one as well ๐Ÿ™‚

I love movies, and I’m at the movie theatre a lot. But, I actually don’t need an app for this. I can control this situation, no matter how much I drink or eat. Well, to a certain point. But I always go to the restroom before the movie starts.

Very interesting app though, and I am going to recommend it to a few people I know. They really need this one ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Jens, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! You are very smart to take care of your business before the movie and limit your fluid intake! Here in the US a small soda at the movie theater is one liter, so this may be more of an issue here than in Norway. ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, I am now headed to your blog to see your post about a similar subject. I always enjoy what you write, but this time I am especially intrigued!

    Hi Carolyn
“Whenever I go to a movie in the movie theater (or a film in the cinema when I was in the UK)”

Thanks for the translation for we in the UK. LOL

Are you kidding me Carolyn… RunPee.

Sounds like just the thing that guys of my age are in need of. LOL

Never mind the ice cream and popcorn… I’m looking for the RunPee.

Hi Keith, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! I am happy to provide translations from American English to, well, English English, though I’m wondering if there is an app for that…

The Wonder of Tech tries to bring you not only the fun tech, such as Kick to Pick, but the essential tech, such as RunPee. Don’t leave home without it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi kj, Welcome back to The Wonder of Tech! I agree, RunPee is an awesome app. Every time I go to a movie now I consult the app because, well you never know when nature will call! Plus I like to know whether there is an extra scene after the credits. My husband and I have always enjoyed watching the credits anyway, but it’s still nice to know if there will be a bonus scene at the end.

Thanks for your visit and your comment!

Why does the website not list the pee times? I want to use it but I don’t have an iPhone or any mobile web option.

Hi DKW, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Good news, you can access break times for movies on the website: runpee.com. Look at the left side of the home page for a list of current movies and their break times.
