Tracking Santa Around the Globe!

The estimated reading time for this post is 3 minutes

If you or your children are eagerly waiting for Santa to arrive, try passing the time with a Santa tracker. Each year two Santa trackers help make waiting for Santa fun.

This year is no exception with Santa trackers offering new ways to see where Santa is and adding some games to play while you’re trying to pass the time.

Santa Trackers for 2016

Google Santa Tracker

This year’s Google Santa tracker is filled with fun ways to follow Santa. Head to Google Santa Tracker to find a countdown clock to Christmas Eve and 24 different activities to pass the time before Santa arrives.

Watch videos such as Santa Gets Back to Work:

Learn translations of different Christmas phrases using Google Translate in Santa’s Village, such as the Korean name for Santa Claus. Play online games such as Gift Slingshot, Santa Search and Penguin Dash. Learn coding skills and find out more about charitable organizations that give to others throughout the year.

Google Santa Tracker 2016

One activity has been unlocked for each day in December, with categories for Explore, Play, Learn and Watch. You can try each activity in order or choose by category.

This is Google’s twelfth year offering a Santa tracker and the tracker now offers new ways to enjoy the activities and track Santa. Use Google’s Santa tracker app for Android, the Chrome Santa Tracker extension, and a link in Google Maps to Santa’s Village.

Google is also offering a new Santa tracker for educators web page with activities to help children learn geography, coding, languages and more while having fun.

NORAD Santa Tracker

NORAD continues its tradition of tracking Santa with its NORAD Santa Tracker. The North American Aerospace Defense Command is celebrating its 61st year of tracking Santa by offering a Christmas countdown, games, activities, 2D and 3D training maps, Santa Camera videos and more.

Listen to NORAD Christmas music while you explore the North Pole. Play games, watch videos and learn the history of how a child dialing a wrong phone number led to the tradition of NORAD tracking Santa throughout the years.

You can also watch movies about NORAD Santa Tracker and see a 360° view of Santa’s Village. The site has a Library with interactive books about holiday traditions around the world, a history of Santa and other stories.

The Arcade unlocks a new game every day such as Santalicious, Cookie Crunch and Santa Hop.

The NORAD Santa tracker website is available in eight different languages.

Beginning at 2:01AM EST on December 24, visitors to the NORAD Santa tracker website can watch Santa prepare for his flight with the Santa Cams streaming videos. At 6 AM EST, people around the world can talk with a live phone operator to ask about Santa’s location by dialing the toll-free number 1-877-Hi-NORAD (1-877-446-6723). You can also send an email to [email protected] to get a reply about Santa’s current location.

NORAD Santa Tracker is also available via free apps for

  • Norad for iPhone and iPad.

    Hi Carolyn,

Good to be back after a while – had been away taking care of my dad, and thankfully he’s better now. 🙂

Coming to the post, I still remember the lovely Santa apps and sites you’ve always been sharing with us, and yes, have heard of Santa tracker though didn’t know all these details – would surely check them out.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas 🙂

My younger brother is eager for his Christmas presents and every now and then he is like ‘When will Santa come?’ and ‘Where is Santa?’. Now I have something to answer him. :p
    Thanks.
