Spotify loves bringing your favorite music to you in innovative ways. At the end of the year, Spotify treats its users to their Wrapped playlists, filled with their most-listened-to songs of the year. Now Spotify is giving listeners customized Only You playlists based on their musical tastes and listening habits.
As you may recall, Spotify is the music service that began creating custom playlists for pets last year. See, Spotify Launches Custom Playlists for Pets. So why wouldn’t they create custom playlists for their human listeners?
What Is Spotify Only You?
Spotify’s Only You is a collection of customized playlists created by Spotify, with input from you. After you’ve answered some questions about your musical preferences, Spotify will create an Only You genre filled with playlists created especially for you.
Spotify’s Only You playlists are updated daily for even more music enjoyment.
How to Use Spotify Only You
To create your Only You playlists, open the Spotify app on your mobile device or go to the Spotify Only You website. Tap the Home icon in the menu bar to see Only You. If Only You doesn’t appear, tap the Search icon in the menu bar.
Tap Only You to see a story of your unique listening habits. You can view each frame or skip through the story to the end. But do enjoy each frame the first time you view your story to find out what listening habits are uniquely you!
You’ll see which unique combination of artists you listen to on Spotify. Spotify also wants you to invite three of your favorite artists, dead or alive, to an imaginary dinner party.
After you’ve scrolled through the Only You panels, you’re given the option to save your Only You playlists for your future listening pleasure. Tap Add Mixes to Your Library to save your Only You playlists to listen to later.
You can re-watch your Only You story on Spotify, and/or share your Only You story via social media, text message, or email.
How to Listen to Your Only You Playlists
If you tapped Add Mixes to Your Library as described above, you can listen to your Only You playlists later.
But finding your customized Only You playlists isn’t as easy as perusing through your playlists to find the Only You ones. Nope, there’s a secret trick to finding them.
To listen to your Only You playlists, open Search on Spotify and search for Only You. The search results will show Only You as a genre.
Tap Only You to see different sections of Only You
Only You sections include:
— Your Dinner Party with playlists from the three artists you chose earlier to join your imaginary dinner party,
— Your Genre Mixes with music mixes from your favorite genres,
— Your Decade Mixes with playlists from your favorite decades, and
— Your Top Podcasts showing your top podcast subscriptions on Spotify.
Your Blend Playlist
Only You also has a “Made for Two” section called Blend. You can invite a friend to compare your musical tastes and create a blended playlist for both of you.
After your friend has accepted your invitation, Spotify will create a Blend playlist for you two, with songs you both may enjoy.
As with the other Only You playlists, your Blend playlist will be updated daily by Spotify. You can find your Blend playlist in the Made for Two section of your Only You genre.
