Tech News and Tidbits!

The estimated reading time for this post is 2 minutes

I’m delighted to review new tech gadgets and accessories, most of the time. But with this product, well, I have no desire to put this one to the test and I hope you don’t either. You still should check out this iPad case which promises to keep your iPad safe from dropped bowling balls. That’s right, you can drop a bowling ball on this case and your iPad should be safe inside. Just a warning: Don’t try this at home. Or at a bowling alley. Or anywhere else. But if you need your iPad case to protect your device through thick and thin, then this case might be the right choice for you!

The case is made by G-Form and is available for pre-order from their site: G-Form iPad case. The case is $59.95 and the expected ship date is May 2.

StumbleUpon is growing quickly! The company just announced that they have grown to one billion hits per month. Mashable. Way to go, Wonder of Tech readers who checked out the site after reading this week’s blog post, You’ll Fall for StumbleUpon! I’m certain you were the ones to push StumbleUpon to this incredible record number of hits!

Are you still trying to get your hands on an iPad? Do you have a child going into kindergarten in the Fall? If so, you may want to move to Auburn, Maine where the school district has just approved $200,000 to purchase 285 iPads for use in Kindergarten classes. A kindergarten teacher in the school district demonstrated to the school board the astounding learning success she achieved with her students using her iPad and they unanimously approved the purchase.

If you don’t feel like moving to Auburn, Maine, you could instead show this video to your local school board to convince them what a great learning tool the iPad is:

Do you want another great sports app? Do you have cable providers Time Warner, Verizon FIOS or Bright House Networks? Check out the new iTunes app WatchESPN which lets you watch ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN 3 and ESPN U, including live streaming of sports events, on your iPhone and iPad. The app is free for subscribers whose cable packages include these ESPN channels. (For Comcast subscribers, you only get to watch ESPN 3 on this app.) Let’s hope the trend of free streaming sports apps keeps spreading!

Are you a golfer? Do you have an Android phone? If so, head to the Amazon Android App Store to grab today’s free app, SkyDroid – Golf GPS. This amazing app uses GPS to give you aerial vies of each hole, measure the distance of your shot and give you the distance from where you are to the front, back and center of the green. The app also has a battery saving feature so you don’t run out of charge while you’re on the course. Here is a link to the app in the Amazon App Store: SkyDroid – Golf GPS. Good news for iPhone and iPad owners, this app is also available in the iTunes App Store, though it costs $1.99. This app seems so great, maybe I should take up golf to try it out. But I’m not going to take up bowling to try out that iPad case!
