Quick, what were you doing one year ago today? How about two years ago? Three, four years ago? Yes, you could check your calendar, look up your posts on Facebook or phone a friend. But an every easier and cooler way to remember is to use the app Timehop.
Timehop is a free app that shows you what you were doing exactly a year ago today. Then two, three, four and five years ago today. Remember fun times you had, important celebrations, family gatherings, special occasions, and more. Timehop shows you the photos you took and social media posts you made on this date during the past years.
See your posts that made you giggle, fun Facebook quizzes you took, inspirational tweets to lift you up, and fun photos of friends and family. Revisit photos of vacation spots, friends’ reunions, your pooch who used to be a puppy and more. See how much children have grown up in a few short years!
Relive your Facebook posts from this date and see who Liked them and read the comments from within the Timehop app. See your tweets from this date in past years and view how many times they were favorited and retweeted.
Timehop also shows you what the weather was like on today’s date for the past few years so you can either celebrate that your weather today is better, or wish for warmer weather again.
Using Timehop
Using Timehop is easy with minimal setup required.

Twitter and Timehop
Twitter only keeps 3200 of your most recent tweets. If you’re a prolific Tweeter, you may have posted many more tweets than that over the years.
Timehop can guide you through getting your archive file of past tweets from Twitter and loading them onto the app. Go to http://twitter.timehop.com to get the step-by-step instructions of getting your Twitter archive file and putting it on your Timehop account. That way you can even go back to your first tweet!

Sharing
You can share your Timehop memories with others via social media from the app. Choose a photo and share it using:
- Text message
Timehop lets you add a caption to the photo and take a new selfie with your front camera to compare Then & Now.
Abe
Part of the fun of Timehop is their adorable mascot Abe the dinosaur. Named after Abraham Lincoln, Abe even has his own Twitter account: @abe. Abe may make encouraging comments on your flashback to the past. Within the app, that is, not on Twitter.
Abe will also let you know important events that occurred on this day in history. Hey, if you’re famous, these updates from Abe and your posts may be about the same events!
Your Thoughts
Do you often think about what you did a year ago today? Have you tried Timehop? Has the app reminded you of special memories in the past? Let us know in the Comments section below!

Hi Carolyn,
Timehop certainly looks like an interesting app, and I’ve never heard of it before today. And that’s why I love visiting your blog, as I get to catch up with so much new stuff here.
It would surely be nice to go back in time, just to see your old shares, especially tweets or other updates, just for fun sake, if nothing else. This would be a fun app for sure. Thanks for sharing it with us, and hope you have a lovely time being away – create those memories, time never returns, except through Timehop!
Happy weekend 🙂

Hi Carolyn
Interesting post indeed. People do remember their past but not exactly as this app can tell us about what we were doing today at the same point of time.
Keep referring the past to make the future better is the habit of many people and people collectively want to know this and they refer history books to peep into their past.
For for individual memories no application and that too free was available so far and this will be a great intro.
Thanks a lot for sharing about this very useful app.

Hey Carolyn,
Timehop seems like a great app here. Though, I personally don’t go back and check the old pics and updates but yes sometimes we need to review the old memories that last forever. Hopefully, it will gain more importance in the near future.
