If you watched Felix Baumgartner’s jump from a hot air balloon more than 24 miles above the Earth’s surface in October of 2012 then you’ve seen footage shot on a GoPro camera. Here’s a video detailing that jump and how it was shot by the GoPro:
And if you’re going to get your Valentine the Balloon Mapping Kit or the Jetavator, why not also give the GoPro camera to record the fun?

Hi Carolyn,
Trust you to come up with the apt post, just before Valentine’s 🙂
I just keep wondering as to how you gather all such goodies well in time, and they are ALL so wonder, except for the Jetavator! That would really elevate my love…lol! I think I’d go with the Portable Fireplace, though it’s way out of my reach, but just the thought of if makes one feel warm.
Thanks for sharing these with us, and let me share them further all over the place as well now. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Harleena, Yes, these gift articles are always so much fun for me to do! It’s like the ultimate shopping trip for me, finding fun and useful tech. My problem is that I always want everything I find!
Yes, that Jetovator is so very cool. I would love to give that a whirl. I imagine myself flying all over the water and having a great time. It’s like having a jet pack, but if you fall it isn’t so bad. I like that you can use it underwater too, though I think I would be having so much fun flying that I wouldn’t go underwater much.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you, Harleena!

Love your ideas — I’m planning to get my loved one a chrome cast Looking forward to using it myself too! It was a hard choice tho — that disco lamp brought back some good memories of some very fun times in the late 70’s & early 80’s. Let’s disco & conquer the world!!! Thx for ALL of your awesome advice & tips.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jamie, I’m so glad you like these gifts. Yes, the Chromecast is a great give for your loved one because you can enjoy it too! And you’re right, for the price of a light bulb you can turn your home into a true disco. Who wouldn’t want that? :-bd
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Jamie!
Ashish says
Hey Carolyn,
Well this was the need of an hour and i came across your post. Thanks for sharing really cool ideas. Being a tech lover, I would definitely try to gift her a cool pair of headphones, as she loves music. Do suggest if its cool or not.
Thanks and Regards
Ashish (Webcipher)
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Ashish, Headphones would definitely be a cool tech gift for Valentine’s Day. I hope your sweetie enjoys them!
Kaloyan Banev says
Looks good, but I suppose jewelry would be more classy and much better idea.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Kaloyan, I respectfully disagree. It’s a well-kept secret that women much prefer tech gifts to jewelry. At least I do! 🙂
Katy Lawrence says
Woow, these are incredible collection of gifts. Some of them I haven’t seen before and the best on is “Jetovator”. The movement I saw the pic, for fraction of second I thought it’s “Jetpack”. made me very curious unless I watched the video which made me more surprise.
Now all I have to do is to find a girlfriend that can gift me “Jetovator” 😉
Awesome article Carolyn
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Katy, You’re exactly right, the Jetovator is just like a jetpack for the water. That’s much better if you have a rough landing! I agree, the Jetovator is really the best gift. You still have three days to find a girlfriend who will give you one. If Cupid doesn’t visit you by then, you could always give yourself the gift you deserve! :-bd
Happy Valentine’s Day, Katy.
James says
Hi Carolyn,
i have a question, is it possible to buy the Googlechromecast here in Nigeria? and secondly, will it work over here?
Thanks for sharing, aside the intending purchase of the chromecast, I’m planning to spend the valentine day with my wife and baby at the beach, movie theatres and finally at the church, for evening service.
Do have a nice day!!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi James, You may have to wait a bit to buy Chromecast in Nigeria. It currently isn’t available outside the US but rumors abound that it will be launched in the UK beginning March 1.
Adrian Lucernas says
That was so expensive if I give this to my love one, 🙂 maybe i go for Chromecast a little bit handy and I think my love like this because she likes watching movie or streaming videos.. 🙂
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Adrian, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! Yes, the Jetovator might be a bit expensive but some of these gifts are very reasonably priced. The Lavolta Disco Bulb is very affordable!
Yes, the Chromecast delivers a lot for a little money. I hope your loved one enjoys her Chromecast, Adrian!
Mike Maynard says
Hi Carolyn,
I want the sports camera. The Chromecast looks handy too, but not available officially in the UK yet. I had an email from Amazon this morning saying they would be delivering one of my parcels and as I read it the doorbell rang! How’s that for service! I have ordered a mount for my car soI can take photos and HD video as I drive. The remote control came this morning. It’s quite cool. I put the camera on a windowsill and from several yards away I was able to trigger the shutter, it also focused well before taking the shot. I must try it with my tripod. Unfortunately my tripod is in the car and as usual it’s pouring with rain! I shall be testing those out soon and filters too. I have a few filters and Cokin filters to test. I’m buying a 300mm lens soon too. I found one for £150 in Hong Kong!
Today’s exciting news is that a prestigious wealth management company quoted me on their website. Not by name but they referred to me as a ‘art critic’ and linked back to my blog! They advise people on investing in art. Fame at last! 🙂
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Mike, Well you definitely are an art critic. You even critique your own art on your blog.
The GoPro is very cool. I love how it takes action shots no matter where you are.
The Chromecast is supposed to be coming to the UK next month. That’s what I got for my husband for Valentine’s Day!
Disha Sharma says

Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Nathan, I hope you get a Jetovator some day. They certainly look very cool!
Swarup says
I love your idea Carolyn.
Lavolta Disco Light Bulb is a good choice but as a tech savvy I’ll prefer Chromecast or Sonvivo Easy Speaker.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Swarup, Yes, the Disco Light Bulb is a very inexpensive way to turn any room into a disco. How much fun is that?
The Chromecast and Sonvivo Easy Speaker can also bring a lot of fun to any room. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, Swarup!
Jason says
Very cool list! Found it a few days too late to use it, and sadly I did not receive any of them myself. I really like the balloon mapping idea though….maybe next year!
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Jason, So glad you enjoyed this list even though you didn’t find it in time for Valentine’s Day. Remember though, there never is a bad time to get a tech gift! Maybe you can find a special occasion for a tech gift or treat yourself.
Nikita says
Hi Carolyn,
Wow, great list of valentines day gifts ideas for tech lovers. Although i have been late, it never late, these ideas will help me for the next valentine or may be some good occasion.
Thanks
Nikita
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hi Nikita, Welcome to The Wonder of Tech! While this doesn’t work for you for Valentine’s Day 2014, you can use these gift ideas for other occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, or “just because.”
Jack says
Hey Caroline, I really liked the concept of gifting tech gadgets to your valentine. I’m sure this will help a lot of people who are still hunting for gifts. Besides, I personally loved the Lavolta Disco Light Bulb. It would be so convenient to have a rocking disco party at your own place. I am definitely ordering it; if not for my valentine, then for myself. 😀 Thanks for such wonderful ideas.
Carolyn Nicander Mohr says
Hello Jack, Great idea to get a tech gift for yourself! No need to wait for a special occasion. Everybody gets a gift when you turn your home into a disco! :-bd
